    Hey all,

I've seen this discussed in other threads but wanted to get everyone's thoughts on it for specifically a 2021 Tacoma since I think the reprogramming process does vary slightly from generation to generation.

Anyway, I've got a 2021 Tacoma and the remotes/fobs have recently stopped working, only occasionally unlocking/locking the doors when I press the buttons. Very inconsistent.

Does anyone have the procedure for fixing this for a 2021/3rd gen Tacoma? Thanks!

I'd first try a new fob battery bought from a store that sells a lot of them so you will likely get a fresh one. Make sure it is installed with correct side up and remove any protective covering.

defiantly try a new battery, if it works intermittently, it is still programmed. Also remove obstructions like aftermarket door handle protectors, and maybe any other aftermarket electrical doodads, that may have been added at the time of decline.

To your original post...I have the same issue...'21 OR...changed the battery out...still is intermittant. Curious if anyone has any fix's beyond the battery. That did nothing for me.

Gently use steel wool on the metal contacts where the coin battery sits fixed my Fob when it was acting flakey.
