    Hello all,

I just got my first Tacoma with manual transmission. I put about 300 miles into it and there is a noticeable vibration in 3rd gear, especially when I accelerate. Please help me fix this.

Take it to the dealer? It’s brand new man.

Dealership is an hour away. I’ll take it if I have to if it’s serious but wanted to see if anyone else here experienced it and if it’s normal or if not, repairable at a reasonable cost.

I've got a 2021 MT with a little less than 300 miles, and no vibes in 3rd gear for me.

What RPMs are you seeing when this happens? With the new motor, it will take some time for everything to settle in. If the vibes are happening at about 1,500rpms or less, it is just the newness. Rack up 10k or so, and you should be able to cruise and accelerate in the lower regions. Too low and trying to accelerate, it will lug.

It becomes more noticeable as RPM gets higher.

And I think vibration is a wrong word to describe this. It feels like something is stuck in the gear, not making it smooth. And it doesn't happen every time. It feels normal when I take it out and put in gear again. And it repeats.

That doesn't sound right. If you can consistently replicate it, it should be easy to address at the dealer. If they struggle to make it happen, firmly offer to go on a drive to demonstrate it.

I know it’s probably inconvenient to drive an hour to the dealership, but with something like this, it’s probably best to do so. I wouldn’t try to fix it myself to not give them a reason to pass blame onto me.

    Best of luck.

DO NOT !!! try to fix anything on a brand new truck yourself. Make the dealer make it right.

    Yep. Warranty work.

I know you are hoping it's something simple. But unless you can be much more specific in your description, it's unlikely anyone here can guess.

Any internet guessing and home brew fixes is pretty high risk on a $40k ride that's still under warranty.

I kid i kid. Like others have stated, best thing to do is to bring it to the dealer. Big plus if you can duplicate it.

I do not feel any vibrations on my new MT in any gear... Smooth as silk...
Definitely have the dealer have a look.
