I have just picked up a 2021 Tacoma Trd Off road from a Co part auction. 49000 miles and payed a total of 10k out of the door.

Body damage is minor however every single airbag is blown which is the pricey part.
I have already got a dash off the junkyard but don’t know how to do a Full Dashboard/air bag removal and replacement. Would anyone know where to go or where to start? Do I need to remove the entire steering column?

If you have never done this kind of rebuild before you might be in over your head.

This is not my first. I have fixed a Tacoma with much more damage. I've just never delt with airbags and avoided them but now I am facing my fears

Just a guesstimate I’m thinking around 15k to put it back together with airbags. IMO If you do the work yourself a lot less.

No need to pull the entire dash to replace the passenger airbag.

Really? I'm referring to the upper passenger Dash airbag. It also caused some of it to crack slightly. I have the entire new dash assembly wondering if I should send it and replace it all but I may look into just the dash if I can do that

The airbag module is designed to be accessible and replaceable separately but if your main dash was cracked in the accident you will need to replace it.

@Vlady Do you think I need to replace Impact sensors if they were never physically damaged?

I've rebuilt quite a few and never had to replace G-Sensors unless they were damaged in the wreck. I also don't replace the module, you can get it reflashed with your VIN pretty easy. Sourcing individual air bags can be tough but possible. Otherwise, many salvage yards will sell all the airbags as a set with the module and clock spring for a pretty penny. Seats are another story. For the price you paid, I would make that thing a dedicated trail rig and say F the airbags and cage it!

@airforceb2cc Lol. I ended up finding a full seat and will hotswap one and found the upper for driver seat just need to swap them... I got the module out and need to ship it out for reset.
Some more questions for you. The roof liner doesn't seem to have a stitching. Can i just replace the curtain airbag and re use that same liner? It looks like it just gets tucked under some plastic. Also for the price I paid... You think I got it pretty cheap? Not sure what the market is for these off roads. Last 2019 Tacoma I had I bought for 5k fixed for 11 and sold for 16. It didn't have 4x4...

I do plan on hanging on to the TRD I got. We get snow quite a bit in WA 4x4 would be nice for the Snoqualmie pass.

Dang OP that’s not much profit on the 2019 for all the work. I hope you drove it for a couple of years to get some of your time/money out of it.

I've always reused the liner unless it tore. There might be a crease in the fabric liner but I learned to live with that as replacing the headliner without damaging it is a pain in the ass. I think you got it cheap after copart fees. Doing all the work yourself and not having to go CAPA on the body panels will save a lot. I always use value line sheet metal and plastic and usually have good luck getting the panels to line up decently well and they hold paint. That right LED headlight will probably be the most expensive part you buy! haha. If the core support is still straight or can be manipulated with a frame machine, I would say you can fix it all for well under 10k. Salvaged title would be in the 25-30k range so yeah, I would say you made out.

@t0p_d0g Maybe I needed to clarify. Total expense for 2019 Tacoma including auction fee was 11. I made 5k on it and drove it around all Summer. Took me about a month of just working on it on weekends to fix.
