TLDW - One is the Best Selling Mid-size Pickup and the other is... Ford trying to steal sales from Jeep.

I doubt many Jeep buyers will go to Bronco. However, I see many Toyota buyers going to the Bronco. It's just a better platform for off road use without spending big money or tons of modifications. It seems that most of the Bronco enthusiasts are old time "Bronco fans" which really isn't stealing sales.

Bronco is the best thing for Jeep people too... Finally Jeep has some competition and has released many updates including the V8 and 35s (xtreme recon package). I'd love to see Toyota get competitive and release improvements!

You are wading into a minefield here. I liked your video. Gave me some confidence in my Tacos steering linkage that it’s the same as what Ford is using to push 35’s around. I also agree with the sentiment here that it is kinda apples to oranges, but nobody is forced to watch anything.

Is there really no skid plate on the bronco fuel tank? Is it somehow incorporated? I find that amazing because my work truck, which is a basic 4WD F150 FX4 has a gas tank skid plate.

Correct. Most of the Broncos are lacking the gas skid plate. The only way to get one... buy a 2Dr (all of them have it included) or Black Diamond or Badlands. Not even an option on all the other versions. Really a bad choice to leave off... it should definitely be standard with all Sasquatch trucks!

I would have thought the new Bronco would have received a better reception by people, but I had several friends who had one on order, including one friend who was on the list for the initial limited one and they all pulled out after test driving them. No one liked it. I personally like the looks, but I am a boxy truck fan. My wife really dislikes it. My buddy test drove one before picking his up and pulled his order. Did not like how it rode at all. It was the sasquatch edition, so maybe a little to purpose built for him. He was going to trade his 2016 4runner in for it. Two other friends did the same.

On another note, I have two friends who picked up Rover defenders this last year and they both have had their trucks in the dealer numerous times. Both went in for electrical issues, main screen blinking out completely. Nothing worked. Rover had no answer. Has happened several times. The other was 4wd mode not activating at all and the third was a small crack in one of the small square tail lights that cost over $2k to replace. It seems that all of the individual rear lights you see on each side are actually one large light which is very expensive.

Bizarre. I can’t fathom these plastic skid plates that most makers provide are that expensive to produce. Anyways………..if the zombie apocalypse arrives in 2022, I’ll know the easiest truck to steal gas from with the old cordless drill trick.

Yeah it’s weird. Personally I was initially very jealous of the new Bronco, and felt Ford knocked it outta the park with the retro boxy styling and off road features. When I first saw a fully decked out New Bronco in person, I still felt it looked awesome and was running the numbers to buy one in my mind. Strangely, when I mentioned this to some good friends I know, who are not necessarily ‘truck people’ they all said they thought the new Bronco was super ugly and totally stupid looking, and they loved my Tacoma. So that kinda quashed my initial jealousy.

I will give Toyota some credit for being a company “of the future” at least in terms of their styling. Most American automotive companies seem to be engaged in selling nostalgia with “throw-back” styling for many of their top shelf vehicles. This does beg the question of whether or not they can design something new and cool, or if all their cool designs are only from long ago. Barring the FJ Cruiser, Toyota seems to be confident in releasing modern looking vehicles that will become future classics. Keep in mind that when the 60-series Cruisers, and 80’s Hiluxes, that everyone loves, were released, those designs were considered very modern for their time.

The downside is Toyota, and specifically Lexus, now produces some of the ugliest vehicles I’ve ever seen in my life, but maybe they will be classics in 30 years? Time will tell.

Kudos to ford for giving the people what they want, if nothing else.

Point taken. Do you think I could fit 33’s on a bicycle without rubbing?

You guys down south probably are not aware of the ongoing “ketchup war” in Canada. When Heinz closed its Canadian operations, angering loyal Canadian customers, the previous “mustard and relish only” brand ‘French’s’ launched a made-in-Canada Ketchup, thus starting the patriotic war against Heinz which had become a US import. The ketchup war literally went big enough that it involved Trump and Trudeau, and sent French’s Ketchup from zero sales to the leading brand. Now Heinz is opening a new factory in Montreal in the latest skirmish in the war. There’s been backroom deals on who gets prominence on the grocery store shelves, and some grocery stores only carry one or the other.

Honestly, the only news I find worth watching is Ketchup War updates.

I am sure there is a Southpark episode in there some where. Especially if the Baldwins own Heinz
