Just means expect average QC at best. Maybe the Bronco will be an exception. That's all. Not hating. Like I said, I have 2 Fords in the Driveway. One is a 2015 that required new shocks and struts at 25K. blah blah.. :)

My experience with Ford led me to purchase my Tacoma.

F150 XLT 3.5l Ecoboost (completely stock engine): 50k Miles - Timing chain stretch issues would result in about 2-4 seconds of metal-on-metal grinding at start-up that sounded very very expensive. Dealer refused to warranty since it was "within spec", $4.5k out of pocket in repairs. 60-70k Miles - The engine threw a rod through the block when one of the turbos blew up. $10k out of pocket for a replacement motor.

2014 Escape 2.0l Ecoboost: 50k miles - developed microfractures in the cylinder heads that would leak coolant into the combustion chamber. Ford's solution was to install a coolant level sensor so you would know when to top it off. 60k miles - the engine had bent rods and needed replacement.

I'm sure my experience with the EcoBoost motors represents the minority, but that's 2/2 and these motors are not cheap to replace. I REALLY wanted to like the Ford EcoBoost (and did before my problems occurred) but it would take a long while for me to consider buying another. Since the EcoBoost is the only option available, I would pass on the Bronco.

We have a Bronco Badlands 2 door on order ONLY because we need a vehicle that can be flat towed and the only 2 that check all the boxes for us are the Bronco and Wrangler. We had a 15' Rubicon and it's road manners were horrible so we traded it in on our current 17' TRDOR. I also have a 22' TRDOR on order that we should get in a month or so. If a 4Runner could be flat towed I would be buying one of those over a Bronco as we have had 5 and never had a single problem with any of them but can't say that for Ford.

I drive a 21' GMC AT4 3500 Diesel and if the new Tundra could haul my 3600 pd Lance camper I would have one of those new Hybrid's when they come out for sure. Toyota has a great products but they are very limited in what they can do as far as towing, and flat towing so for us we have to venture away from Toyota.

I will add that my 2014 F150 4x4 on Fox suspension with the 5.0L I had zero problems and drove it pretty hard for the time I had it.

So are you saying that the new unproven Bronco is a better rock crawler than a new JL?

So, it's funny because of all this stuff, I went and built a Bronco with all the godies and a Rubicon with all the goodies. I built both with 35 inch tires on their site. when I was done the Rubi was $4k more than the Bronco. For 4k more, the Rubi wins and will be more capable than the Bronco for the following reasons; First, the solid front axle of the rubi has considerably more articulation than the Bronco. I built the Rubi with the new Diesel engine. I built the Bronco with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. The diesel makes all it's torque at half the rpm of the ford, this gives much more power very low in the rpm range which helps in rock crawling. Having done most of MOAB and Canyonlands in a stock Rubicon on 32 inch tires, I can only imagine how much better this new one is. I am sure the Bronco would do well, but I am betting the Rubi will be just that much better in every section.

My ex’s ecoboost escape needed new engine at about 10-15k miles, can’t remember. It was the same issue, coolant leaked into combustion chamber. Wasn’t it 1.6 EB though?

I shouldve mentioned in my earlier posts that I have no faith in eco boost engines, otherwise Ford is pretty good IMO.

I think the look of the new Bronco’s are ugly. They went from full-size to SUV size. I had a full-size long ago and loved it! Thing was a tank! And topless was sexy. I made an I-beam bumper in welding class for it you could mow over small trees, fences no problem. That was back in my younger off-road I don’t care days. Those are 34 swappers on it. Kids loved it too! 2A061240-302A-44B2-A633-35ED053B0454.jpg

My thought is the bronco will suit all the commuters that want a jeep but want slightly better on road manners that will naturally occur with IFF
This image is used for so many funny brand jokes! Just last week I saw a good one with it for sporting gear.

Gotta stick together lol. But having had Jeeps and Toyotas I never see the level of butthurt from Jeep ppl like Toyota ppl….

The older full size rigs seem quite a bit smaller than today’s full size trucks…. I wonder how the dimensions compare for the 80’s/90’s Bronco vs the current Bronco

You're not the minority. I work at a large used dealer. Ecoboosts, while performance wise are nice, are garbage engines. Nothing but trouble with them, and our mechanic is an ex-Ford master tech and he hates them too.

I was really excited when they said they were bringing back the "Bronco"
Huge disappointment when they didn't build it with Dana Axles!!!
    It's a FORD "LandRover"

I know you just popped in the thread to take a shait and run... but a full second faster 0-60 and 120 ft lb more torque "looks" weaker to you, is that 'special' math? Perhaps numbers work differently if your diet is Cambodian breast milk? :D

I'm a Toyota fanboi BUT they've been snoozing with their powerplants specifically with forced induction. I'm glad Ford along with Fiat are forcing them to up the power numbers.
