If the 2021's are anything like the 2020's mines been outstanding.
Nothing...don't know why there are complaints. My 2020 automatic performs fine.

New DC OR in Jan. I am completely satisfied with the build quality. But be warned the factory tune is atrocious, I mean it’s really horrible.
I loaded the KDmax tune at 1,600 miles and am now very happy with the truck overall. Do note these trucks lack low end torque. That’s my only complaint after loading the KDmax tune.

I picked up a 2021 sport DCLB AT last month and have put just over 500 miles on it so far. Not one complaint. It's solid and rattle free, rides great, and I have no major shifting issues. The one thing I've noted is that it does tend to make upward gear changes on the quick side to keep the RPMs as low as possible, so as soon as you give it just a little gas for a pass or hill it's going to downshift, then go back up as soon as it can. Not a complaint simply an observation, and certainly not enough to annoy me. I'm not sure if it's the truck learning or me getting used to driving it, but I swear the thing drives better than when I first got it.

About the only drawback I can see to your getting one now is the lack of supply and consequently what you may end up paying for what you want. Make sure you really shop it well. Best of luck and post pictures if you do pull the trigger!

If you think about the not so distant past, you had to actually speak to someone in person to get their opinion on a product. Your neighbor or friend with a Tacoma would tell you how great it is. Now, with things like this forum, you get a place where people can ask questions or seek help with troubleshooting. It gives the perception of a lot of issues when in fact there aren't (similar to our general culture at the moment). I mean, clearly products in general have become "cheaper" in that certain materials are no longer used or new electrical components have replaced mechanical ones. While I do think there's truth to other Tacomas being a bit more "bullet proof" compared to 2021, that can be said for just about every manufacturer and just about every product.

I think you should get yourself a Tacoma and enjoy it. It seems you have had a goal, and you worked hard to achieve that goal. Even if the Tacoma isn't perfect, you'll get a lot of personal reward from seeing this goal through. That excitement and "high" will far out way any weird quirks the truck may have. It will also be way better for your mental sanity to just get the Tacoma instead of going with another brand and then wishing you just did what you originally set out to do.

If you read the forums you will think that the truck is the biggest POS ever built but in reality all the people here love their trucks. It's just in human nature to complain about the stuff you don't like instead of talking about the stuff you do.

    Check build thread!
@mosesofthesouth had about 300k miles last time I remember seeing a post from him (maybe as the resident high mile guy, he can comment) but I commonly see trucks with 200k plus miles come through and they're running like a top, having never had issues. Hell, my dad's 16 venza shares the same basic motor architecture and its almost at 175k miles. So in summary, yes absolutely they are.

Actually, the first year was low, then 2017 was the best, and it's gone downhill since then. I think the 2021 falls apart as soon as it leaves the lot.

people continue to repost this video likes it is some incredible thing. The fact is that bozo reinforced the shit out of that truck's frame. Beefed the F out of the suspension and now it can bounce. Big Fukin deal. you can do that to anything, even a chevy

I have a 2021 TRD OR 4X4 LB. I love driving it and have no issues at 5k. After visiting these forums I leave depressed until I drive it again.

Bought my 2021 TRD Offroad the week before Christmas '20. If I recall correctly it is an October built truck out of the plant in Mexico. At almost 7K miles I have no complaints at all. No squeaks or rattles, everything fits together perfect. I personally think the factory radio is adequate, but I was coming from and older 2nd gen; that radio was terrible. Yes the auto transmission is a little odd shifting and the occasional shudder, but it is what it is. It does have the infamous rear end whine, but I just turn the radio up louder. Went through some shitty winter storms and it got me home safe and sound. Shortly coming up on the second service/oil change. Dang, I drive too much...

yes, he talks about it in one of his videos. The vehicle is no where near stock frame and suspension wise.

We’re like wine snobs. Our buttocks are like the fine nostrils of a Somalia. Don’t worry about the vocal low percentage issues. But don’t get a 6MT whatever you do.

I would not be surprised to find in a few years that vehicles built between March 2020 and Jan 2022, have the lowest reliability ratings over all the other models of the same generation.

Aside from the whine and cheese on this forum about the trucks, is there any info that would lead to that conclusion. I personally don't believe that.

here is one video where he talks about what he did, and even when it was posted no one noticed it because most probably did not make it that far on the video. watch from 6:20 and he glosses quickly over some of what he did. There is much more.

Still a solid engine and tranny. I also don’t think overload springs unfairly modify the truck lol.

no, but when you combine that with frame reinforcement it does.
