no doubt, but you could have done that to any toyota.

He says "we added a barricade to the front"- he basically welded a massive piece of steel framing to the front which stiffens the frame

Then here is my favorite part; "the frame doesn't come this low, these are extra frame rails." - oh, so you added another frame to the frame.

What have you heard/read re: VFTuner not working with 21's? My order from them just shipped and prior to ordering I exchanged emails with Matt at OV - he claims 21's are fully supported.

I have no engine whine from my AT. Thinking of doing a vid recording and uploading to YouTube before I get a tune done, because after people can just say it was the tune that fixed it…

People got better deals on 2020 trucks and are paying less money than people who bought new 2021 trucks. Those 20's will have a better reliability rating since the cost of ownership, will be marginally lower than the 21's. There is no difference between the 21 and 20 trucks.

2017's are probably the best year for 3rd gens.

Not for their OEM ECU’s, then it’s the second worst year. Toyota ironed out a lot of the kinks with patches to their ECU, things such as shift points and lower rpm acceleration

This is why when you hear testimonials from people who have gotten OV Tune done, the ones with 2016-2017’s are like “holy shit! So much better!” And the ones with 2020’s and 2021’s are like “it’s a bit better”

I just picked up my 21'OR last week and the only issue I see is when going over some bumps , is a rattle I get from the front, could be the skid plate? not sure but when brought to the dealer they found nothing..

Bought my 2021 TRD OR DCLB in early November. Have not had any issues. The tranny seems fine to me. The truck does what I need. The one benefit to having an OR is the suspension. They are putting a NG line along under the road I take to work everyday. Boy that suspension just eats up the patchwork of asphalt and metal plates with no problems.

No argument here :D And, not one single issue.

To the OP - Go on any truck forum and see if it’s any different than TW. Highly doubt it. Test drive and then test drive some more.

    Compared to the big 3?
Yeah. Build quality on a Tacoma is just fine.
Had mine for 2 1/2 years. Zero problems

ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
The frame on my 21 has already completely rusted through.

this is a quote from TWTaco:

“If your truck was built from 4-21 thru 6-21 we cannot tune those build date trucks they came out with new ECU and we dont have the software to support them yet its coming. If you check your driver door pillar you can find the build date”

I dunno much about modding, never done any before with a vehicle. This is why I’m relying on someone else to help Tune
