2021 Transmission Cooler or lack there of

I have a 2021 OR without it seems a good transmission cooler except the one I believe to be in the radiator. The radiator on drivers side has at the bottom the regular large coolant hose, then immediately above that a smaller hose and then another hose close to the top both of which I believe are to the diminutive transmission cooler. There is no adjunct cooler attached in front of the radiator or the ac condenser as I see many pictures here on TW. Are my assumptions correct as to the function of the two smaller hoses being trans fluid?

Wish to know where to hook up an additional trans cooler.

edit: Which hose is the input to the radiator and which is the output?

Yes the smaller hoses in the radiator are the trans cooler. The other small cooler you may have seen on earlier 3rd gens under the radiator is a power steering cooler.

You don't need to add an additional trans cooler but if you're paranoid or tow a lot and want the extra capacity and peace of mind you can get an aftermarket one or one off a tundra and make your own brackets, just disconnect the lines from the in radiator cooler get extended ones and connect them to the aux cooler, order doesn't matter unless the aftermarket cooler specifies in the manual but generally heat rises so top is hot in and bottom is cool out usually.

Tow package includes a trans cooler, my 2021 SR has the package.

I can snap some pics tomorrow once it's light out if that'd help. Can't tell what's what myself but happy to share pics since I know it's on there.

So actually the door sticker for my 2021 SR does not explicitly say "ATF cooler" but does have the tow package...

However the 2021 Sport I ordered does list an "ATF cooler" as an AT-only option, and I can recall the sales guy telling me how my SR has it. Either way I will snap some pics tomorrow.

If it’s there then they placed it back. I guess due to complaints of missing Tcoolers.

    All of them.
Not true. The early third gens had the small radiator in front of the big one for the trans. The power steering cooler is the long finned tube at the bottom.

OK guys, thanks for the responses. I will be doing some heavy, but intermittent towing, plus a lot of slow crawling.

Note: I also see at the bottom front of the radiator a cooling loop with fins fed from the passenger side. I thought that to be the engine oil cooler.

I also have another thought and that is the side tank of the radiator is possibly the power steering fluid cooler?

I’m not trying to ignore the advice just want to make sure.

The long narrow single loop cooler is the power steering. The engine oiler cooler is a cube right above the oil filter.

The inlet cooler hose will get hot first. Also most trans outlet lines are at the front of the trans where the front pump is.

Ok, so just to summarize the FACTS:
The block on top of the oil filter housing best visible from above on the left side is the engine oil filter.
The finned loop at the bottom front of the radiator/AC evaporator is the power steering cooler.
The invisible automatic transmission fluid cooler is in the left side cap of the radiator and the ATF input (hot) is at the top with the ATF output (less hot) at the bottom and the bottom should feed any additional external ATF cooler. My vehicle is a late model 3rd gen and does not have a discrete ATF cooler in front of the radiator/condenser.

I've read though much, but certainly not all of the links supplied above which bring up more questions:
This ability to pin" the AT thermostat on the lower right side of the transmission must be there for a factory or service function - what is that function? An .072" hitch pin works just fine there, 3/32" was way too big for my 2021 6AT.

I believe the pinning of the pre heater was used to properly fill the transmission cooling system during the assembly of your truck .
Considering you live in a warmer climate , you do have the option of pinning the thermostat open .
The transmission will stay cooler with the thermostat pinned open
The thermostat is designed to warm the transmission quickly allowing for better fuel mileage as well as warming up your transmission quicker during cold morning start ups .

    Mostly dust and dirt.
I was told (on this forum) that the transmission cooler was moved into the main radiator on the 2020 1/2 model.
My 20 has a separate cooler but for some reason halfway through the model run they changed it.

My 2021 sr5 Trail Edition has tow package and no transmission cooler. What's towards the bottom of the radiator is not a transmission cooler.

The cooler towards the bottom of the radiator, or the cooler going through the bottom of the radiator?

One is the power steering cooler the other is actually a transmission cooler, just a pretty basic one.

I'm going to try it before putting in an auxiliary cooler!

edit: I'm also monitoring with my UltraGauge.

Proper way to test is to use a scan tool and read the trans fluid temps.
