I understand that this slipped under my nose… but what I’m pissed about is I paid TRD OFF Road pricing, not SR5.

At a minimum I’d want the balance.

It’s a super nice truck regardless just want to pay the the correct price for what I got.

Do a thorough comparison of the asking price of similar trucks before you rush to judgement. I suggest using auto trader and entering in the exact specs of your truck including the trim level. Make sure you are looking at like for like. Use a search radius of 500 miles. You can also select vehicle history such as "1 owner," "no accidents," etc.

the VIN tells the story, they sold you an SR5 but told you it was an OR. Figure out the difference using KBB and the market and go back with a reasonable and respectful request.

if they don’t respond, get Toyota corp involved.

If things don’t go anywhere, there is always you sitting in the back of your truck with an appropriately worded sign on Saturday about 1pm; know your state laws / rights and have clear details to support your request. It gets results.

oh, and to be honest, whether it was intentional or not, this nonsense from a dealer is not surprising; as an old boss used to say, you’re either lying or stupid, which one is it?

The truck was 42998? I’ve been thinking of trading my 2020 SR 4 banger in so I went shopping around today and looked at a new Sport access cab 4x4 for 41780 and a OR 4x4 for 41785, no mark ups.

Why would toyota get involved on a used truck purchased at a VW dealership?

A Trail Edition is actually higher priced than a base Off Road.

Yikes on several bikes. The whole reason for buying a TRD OR would be for the locker; how did you not check that man? Either way, I would drive there in person and speak with them about the pricing variance.

If you are unhappy, I would contact an attorney at this point. They will know how state law interact with all this. In discovery, you would have access to all their information on the vehicle, so you don't have to have proof of how they advertised it now.

I would not be surprised if the VW dealership was clueless and gave the original owner more than they should have for the truck.

Larry H Miller also has a Toyota dealership in peoria, I'm not sure if that means anything at all in relation to a legal argument.

That is NOT a factory OR decal on the bed (and it wasn't applied squarely, either). That, with no E-locker says SR5, to me.

Ah... that bedside decals aren't from factory... they are the aftermarket decals which previous owner bought them from a member on here or somewhere else.

    This is factory:

If dealer did that, then that is very wrong.

SR5 models do not have bedside decals... only SR5 emblems on doors.

I noticed you have black flares on them. SR5 do NOT have those... only colored match flares... for example, if your truck is blue, then you will have blue flares. In that case, it is a SR5 or Sport. You ask what about SR, then SR do not have 'add-on' flares...

Older models of TRD Pros have the 'TRD Pro' emblems under the side mirrors.. I think starting in '22 or '23, they have TRD pro on bedsides like this:

It is not a TE without the locker.

Does the truck have the TRD lift kit heritage grille? If it does, at least they didn't sell you a Pro instead of an SR5. Pro grill has matte silver letters and the lift kit grille has black letters, it wouldn't have been a Pro grille.

Still can't see the window sticker the dealer applied to the truck. No one can see how the truck was marketed to the buyer.

If the iterior looks like this it's a Trail Edition.

Rear bumper would also be chrome like all other 21 SR5s. I can't recall if production trucks got chrome or color match rear bumper caps. Probably chrome, as Toyota emphasizes 22-23 TE getting color coordinated bumper caps.

21 TE also got the silver grille from the Limited.

If memory serves me the very first year of the Trail Edition did not have a locker, just the goofy bed boxes.
