So I went in today to entertain the idea of trading in my 2017 4x4 Sr5 to see what I could get for it. I owe 18k and they said they would give me 27k for trade in I would get take off most of my add ons except snorkel and my stage 4 icon suspension. This is my current truck.

I live in Corpus Christi Texas and there is literally no Tacoma’s on the lot they said they had just received a new 2021 Trd off road so technically it’s not the color I wanted either super white or cement gray but it’s still very nice.

Just looking for advice to see if this is a good deal or maybe should I wait around. Not sure if I’m looking for opinions to justify getting a new truck or if I should just stay with what I have? But I definitely wanted a trd from the get go but could only afford an Sr5 at the time. Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated they also ran the numbers and this is what it would look like. Also not sure if I need all the warranty options? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Seriously, keep making payments on the truck you already have- she’s a fine machine.

Right off the bat I would have them remove all the protection packages they have listed. That’s $5,300 right there.

Pay off what you have. You've already done the suspension, snorkel and hood, so put an air locker in and you likely have a better package than an off road.

Since you're asking for opinions, I think the 2017 is the best year for 3rd gens. No TSS is a big part of that

I’m a big fan of not making a payment.... I only owe about $17k on my 2020. When that’s done I plan to go payment free for about 9 years. I say pay off the truck you have and enjoy it!

Thanks Doug guess my biggest regret was not buying the trd model to begin with but it’s already a replica minus the locker.

If you want adaptive cruise then do it. Otherwise, it’s all cosmetic shenanigans. You can do a new head unit with wireless android/Apple for way less than the cost of going for a new truck. The only thing I’d trade up for is the adaptive cruise because that can’t be done diy. And for how often I’ve used it, I would just keep the 17 until it crumbles to dust. (Which. It’s a Toyota. So that might just happen).

    IMO,

I just traded in my 2017 OR for $30.5k to get the 2020 Pro. Best decision I made. The truck drives so much better (never had a TSB done on the 2017 to improve how the truck drives). The 2020 feels like it has power that I lacked for 3½ years.

Don't care for DRCC? Then just hold down the button to turn on cruise control and it will revert to standard (non-adaptive) cruise control. Due to covid, trade in values and interest rates are the best I have ever seen. I got 2.04% interest on my 2020. My 2017 was 2.69% and I feel that my credit was better back then compared to now.

Now, it wouldn't hurt to continue to browse, as the dealer add-on's are ridiculous and it's not exactly what you were looking for. Get the color you want, I wasn't happy until I got what I wanted.

Either way, you can't go wrong. I only had one issue with my 2017, battery crapped out but reimbursed by Toyota for my AGM replacement. I tolerated how it drove, but you can get VFTuner/OVTune or get the dealer to flash the TSB (if you haven't done either).

I bought a 2018 SR5 and always kind of regretted not getting the Sport. The whole time I owned it I was always looking to get rid of it. Once the Carvana deals started coming around I sold it to them for 500 dollars more than I paid for it and got a 2020 TRD Sport 4k off of asking price. I think I had buyers remorse for 2 years and since I got the Sport its gone. If you always wanted the Off Road and it makes financial sense for you, then trade it in.
