My free wifi trial is ending and I'm wondering what the benefits of paying $20/month would be. Currently I have to plug my phone in to get access to maps, phone and spotify etc. That seems to work fine.

I know the wifi can be a hotspot but that seems pretty useless as i usually have my phone on me anyway.

Anyone have the wifi, if so what do you use it for?

I don’t personally use it, but I know some people use it to enable cloud capabilities with dash cameras.

It’s great for kids, iPads, etc.

Not much use for that outside of the potential for multiple carriers. My phone service is through Verizon, but the Tacoma WiFi is from AT&T.

I hit it for long road trips with the kids. Cancel once we get home.

I’d check if tethering on your phone is cheaper. Basically it turns your phone into wifi hotspot for everyone/everything to connect to. It will burn your data though if you don’t have an unlimited plan. I have tethering and use it a ton with my laptop while traveling away from a wifi connection.

Toyota primarily uses the connection to collect constant telemetry data from your vehicle so if they can get a few customers to pay for it, they can recoup their costs. I never used or activated mine and if not for Bluetooth connectivity, I'd just pull the fuse and shut off Wi-Fi capability all together. Personally, I see zero value in it.
