You'd think if that were the case in that many vehicles, toyota would have had a solution for it by now. Other then that, I can see where some owners are super picky, and can find fault in anything.

It took them five years to issue an update for the transmission...they are not exactly responsive to these kinds of things.

And yes, some owners can be picky. But others can actually have an issue. For me personally, and having owned 17 different vehicles (and regularly driven countless others), my Tacoma was the worst tuned/running engine out of everything I have ever owned. My list of ownership includes everything from domestic, euro, and Asian manufactures, from the budget end to BMWs, and covering every engine config except a boxer or a V10.

I'm not sure why folks always want to marginalize the issues others are having. It seems more likely that certain individuals are offended but the idea the truck isn't perfect, than it is that quite a few owners have very similar issues. Folks said the same about the transmission, yet it WAS serious enough that Toyota issued an update, there can be other things as well. Maybe their engines are as consistent as their paint jobs...

I guess chit happens, but in what percentage is truly legit that are enough to cause a manufacture to solve the issue. I too have owned, or driven countless vehicles over my 50 plus years since getting a drivers license. This tacoma has been by far the best performing small/midsize truck owned. It's very hard to pick on any one issue needing improvement. Its even got enough cup holders.
