I hear "that was a boring race" about 70% of the races each season, so it just leads me to wonder why these people are even watching?

Apart from the stupid 10 second penalty, he should have overtaken tsunoda on the previous two corners…

agree. And if you liked it like I did I always get asked “what are you new to the sport”. All these old salty dogs should move on then. I’ve been watching over 10 years. Not sure if that’s considered “old enough” to the sport. But I actually enjoy it. It isn’t the same as it was 10 years ago now 20 years ago. But it’s still super fun to watch. And love all the new fans and excitement.

been watching for about 23 years now and been about 8 live races in the USA and Europe. You get a feel of the races that just aren’t as exciting as others over time. Mostly because, in my opinion, comes down to track design. So us so called salty dogs of F1 fandom aren’t salty but wise.

I left F1 in the mid-90s as the racing stopped and it became a parade. I loosely followed it about three years ago as Max was a young pup and making waves. Last year's fight was fantastic, and this year is great. There is actual racing. Sure the race at the front might not be back and forth, but the mid-field is epic. I'm a fan of racing.

Side note - When I go to the cart track, sure, the fastest lap is fun, but I will race you and overtake you. Force you into a mistake and spin you out.

I've been a fan since I went to my first race, the 1982 Long Beach GP (It started out as F1). A fantastic race that saw Niki Lauda come up and win. So yea I'm an old salty dog I guess. The sport continues to evolve in good ways and bad ways, but for sure it was more exciting in the 80's and 90's IMO. Anyway hey Max ran away with it, Just like all the champions before him. Nothing new. How many "boring" races did Schumacher, Hamilton or Senna do the same. The beauty is if you record it you can just walk away and get stuff done and if things change go back and see what happened or FF. It is what it is. I'll still watch every race because you never know whats going to happen. Especially if it rains which doesn't seem to happen as much as it used to? When it does its a deluge. Global warming?

In regards to rain, Max has officially offered to develop a rain tire with Perelli for next year. Hopefully, it will happen. Rumor has it, it will be at the Circuit Paul Ricard as it has the ability to simulate static and running water with the proper amount of runoff.

Guess I should be glad I’m not “wise” and just enjoy it. Would hate to be “wise” and bored of something I find enjoyable like watching races.

yes I’m being sarcastic. My opinion is it’s just personality. All good. We’re all different!

Spot on. I go with the flow and watch the races even some are not as exciting as others. I continue to watch boring races anyway. I remember the runaway era of Schumacher and Ferrari dominance. Then came Sebastian Vettle and Fernando Alonso.

Don't want to miss it in case something good happens. Or I have nothing else to do.

That race was like watching a podcast that's how boring it was.
Pfft. Austin doesn't have a trackside marina.

Mexico will be an annual snoozefest parade until the teams either figure out how to effectively cool their engines and brakes at that temperature and altitude or until the race is rescheduled to run during a much cooler month. Im not betting on the former because those environmental conditions are a "one off" on the calendar.
