New cars and we do not know where Haas will be in the order yet. In theory, they had a year to work on the new car and get more wind tunnel time for being in last place last year. Maybe they can contend for points this year. Of course, that would still be a "midfield" team, wouldn't it....so nevermind! :)

Its going to be short lived. Watching the 2nd Session of the day right now. I don't think Mercs will keep that unless their cooling system is super reliable, you don't want additional components failing during a race. Remember last year when Yuki killed the testing session en everyone thought " OH LORD HERE COMES THE NEW TAKUMA SATO" LOL he marked the fastest lap overall using DRS throughout the whole lap.

Next week we'll see, everyone is keeping their cards close to their chests during testing as they always do.

Could be something coming later in the season for certain tracks? Higher speed tracks with constant speeds for cooling? or would they be locked in to a sidepod design the entire season? I don't know how it works.

Some pics of the Merc w/out sidepods. Or as it looks, smaller front inlets...

Looks like direction aero fins into a vertical inlet

Good pic here. Just the inlets are vertical not horizontal. Dunno how this could be illegal. Unless the rule is the inlet has to be horizontal?

that's not the rule. the main thing here and why the debate is starting is apparently about the SIS regs, since MB has turned it into a wing device and is outside the side pods for the first time.

i may be able to copy the article if it doesn't show..

Great article. Dunno if Merc would go through all this trouble and not be able to use this or pushing the rule limit, or psyching Red Bull out?

I thought I read some where that MB had asked prior to making these changes because like above why would they go to all this trouble?

the FIA had cleared their initial development path, but the new reg allow for unanimous protesting from the teams. so, jury is out for now.
