With their current form, they should be aiming at 7th for the race with bonus positions should the top three teams have issues. I hope they can sustain this. It would be a good result from the beating they took last year to get ready.

Got my Lego catalog today, and this is there.

 

Using the Ferrari engine too. As is Alfa Romeo, seems Ferrari got their engines tuned in pretty good. The Ferrari engined teams all did well.

 

If it was the standard issue fuel pump they would have said so by now. I think they miscalculated and ran out of gas.

 

Aren't the reports of the actual cause released to the public? For any mechanical DNF I thought it was.

iirc Craig Scarborough mentioned it was the standard pump, but their unique fuel additives lead to the issue due to the internal pump lining being incompatible with the fuel. i don't know if he believes that to be true, or if RB is just doing the disinfo thing..

During the race and when it was happening Lambiase told max “We can see the issue, Max, it’s not battery related” “There’s not a lot we can do.”

I guess if it was fuel they would have been telling him to hold back and save fuel, no?

if they short fueled both cars and they knew it they would have asked both drivers to save fuel

All true, and the teams were given time on Saturday night during parc ferme to investigate and, if they thought it prudent, replace the pump. If that was the failure Red Bull would have said so by now. No skin off their nose to blame an FIA mandated part. This is why I think it was something else. Maybe "ran out of fuel" could be more like "ran out of fuel that the system would deliver", if perhaps their fuel system got hotter than other cars' due to design.

 

Wouldn't they would be DQ'd anyway if they really "ran out", if the post-race samples are still taken. But I guess there is "out" and there is "accessible" as you said.
