Hi folks. I’ve got a 2018 Non-JBL OR. I purchased a 2022 head unit to try and install and the connectors are totally different. I’m curious if anybody is aware of an adapter to accommodate the 2022 head unit.

I think you might need this. I would verify before purchasing

I was under the impression that the radio was coded to the vehicle. So that theft would not provide a working HU.
I may be wrong...has anyone else heard of this?

OP I just did this, get the auto harness house connectors and you’ll be good to go (don’t forget the optional usb connector). And no the HUs aren’t coded, it works, although if you had factory NAV on the ‘18 but not on the ‘22 (doesn’t look like that has NaV) you’ll lose the dash compass

that extra bullshit on your 18 is a Sirius XM module - you don’t need it

click the “no NaV” and add the USB adapter - they ship relatively fast then you’ll have CarPlay

I also ended up getting the Cplay2air dongle for wireless CarPlay and it works great

Here’s the kicker. I got the auto harness house harness all hooked up and it’s not working. I have the OEM audio plus aftermarket speaker upgrade with subwoofer etc. Now this new head unit won’t power on. I wonder if I’ve got some critical wiring issues between the OEM audio plus, factory wiring, and 2020+ harness adapter kit.

IIRC two of the adapters are the same size, are you sure you have them in the right slot? Only one of them have the power wire, I’d start there and make sure you can power the unit before trouble shooting further

Much obliged. Successfully set up the radio without the OEM 2020+ adapter. Specifically, only using the auto harness house harness. Many thanks folks.

Why is wireless carplay such a big deal to people? Do you not charge your phones in the car anyway?

Gonna be honest, not taking my phone out of my pocket is awesome. And no, I don’t use my phone enough to need to constant charge during the day

True wireless CarPlay means the HU uses the build in GPS antenna for phone driven navigation. wired CarPlay uses the phones GPS. So wireless you get way better accuracy and resolution. This is if the HU has true / native wireless CarPlay, not those wireless adapters, that’s basically the worst of both worlds.

Those are two very valid reasons, thanks.

Eh phone GPS is so decent these days it’s pretty much a wash, I’ve never had an issue - I also end up using Siri, which I’ve never done before, to listen to and respond to texts which is nice

It’s not even close from a resolution or accuracy perspective. Also if your phone is in your pocket / hidden it’s even worse.

This has not been my experience. I just need to know what street I'm on, not drop a bomb through a skylight.
