Hit a downed tree here in Northern California at 60mph. Tree was across both lanes. Fortunate to be alive asking this question. Direct hit but no airbags went off? Seems strange.

My understanding of modern airbags deployment is that they work with deceleration vs impact like older vehicles. You must not have met the threshold to have the SRS system deploy. Most likely when you hit the tree you pushed it more than it stopped you.

Yikes! Wish your first post wasn’t this. Hope you’re okay and insurance takes care of you. Will it be another Taco?

Didn’t see the tree. They were coming down quickly. I hit it doing 60mph. The tree broke in half when I hit it. One end of the tree went across the room smashing the windshield.

    Definitely getting another taco!

Glad you are alive to post your story and hoping you have no injuries.
Did your brakes auto apply? A 2022 TRD should have the Safety Sense System which is programmed to apply the brakes before a collision.

    WOW!
My first fatal MVA was when I was an active FF1 in 1991 during a wind storm where a tree broke, blew across a major two-lane road, and landed on the cab of a 1987 F150. Crushed the cab. The driver lived due to no seat belt, the steering column, and the tree moved the cab to the passenger side killing his uncle.

Unfortunately, killed by a fallen tree is happening way often in PNW. Just happened this morning

On a positive note, it was a 2022 so you wouldn’t be as attached to it and invested tons of money into it as if you had owned it for 5 years.

    Truck did it’s job!!

I'm glad you're not injured, as far as the bags not going off...... the tree absorbed some of the impact.
But I have to ask, you were going 60 with trees coming down quickly?
