Ugh I so would have bought one. Fuck you Toyota for finally updating the LC then not bringing it here.

You should be angry at all the people who didn't buy them when they were still available. Although, the Lexus version is still available. Those are pretty popular where I am. Compare the LC's sales numbers vs the LX and you can see why Toyota did what they did.

Maybe all the offroad capability of the LC is lost on the American consumer who can even afford these things?

They’re just like, “If I’m gonna hit moab for that price I’m gonna cherry a JL with an LS swap, super flexy suspension, atlas transmission, 40s, etc.”

Too bad we lost this vehicle in the states. I wonder if Toyota could bring a smaller cheaper, bronco and wrangler competitor to the U.S market and name it a land cruiser. I suppose it would take sales from the 4Runner and Tacoma. But imagine a short wheel base, 2 door, body on frame 4x4 with 33’s stock. I know it will never happen but we can dream.

That’s what the FJ fans want. A return of that machine with a removable top.

That would be great, a true wrangler/bronco competitor with removable top and doors and Toyota reliability. I think Toyota missed the mark on the cruiser, styling never grew on me and it wasn’t that much more capable than a 4Runner. If they could Chanel that fj40 classic design and modernize it like they did with the new bronco. To be fair though a taco or 4runner on 33s can keep up with those short wheelbase rigs with a little driver skill.

The FJ guys still fall short when trying to run with Jeeps though.

Front locker probably would have helped, hard to beat that Solid front axle articulation as well. I wonder how the bronco’s IFS compares to the Toyota design.

Not sure how Ford compares with Toyota but I was pretty impressed with the Bronco in this vid. No telling what Ford did to if for Loren or if it’s stock. My boomer dad is buying my boomer mom a bronco so she can get groceries with her Yorkie.

I am not. The LC hadn’t been competitive in its class for a long time. Unless you wanted it’s specific strength of long term reliability and off road ability there are a plethora of better choices in the class. I do want those things so I looked at it but lacks luxuries you can literally find on a Corolla like car play and full speed adaptive cruise. You will kinda of being to get that with a new LX but the off road ability isn’t great unless you mod it cut up the bodywork. So in reality the luxury dependable off roader segment is basically gone now unless they do an off road variant of a new GC/LX. That being said it’s entirely possible the next 4Runner will be nice enough to fill the void and that’s what all the prospective LC buyers (myself included) will move to.

Sorry, the LC is the top of the class in all those things.

    none

That's what he said. Yeah the LC is top in class for long term reliability and off road capability, but other than that if you want a big, luxurious SUV there's a bunch of others that compromise on the LC's off-roadieness but beat it in luxury, comfort, ride, fuel economy, price, etc.

Definitely. The TOYOTA grill and blackout wheels and door handles.

The grill is cool. I like the blacked lower portion of the front bumper. Whick looks like a air dam. That would be a nice carryover to the 4th gen Tacoma of all trim levels, but that design would probably be exclusive to the OR trim.

They've already stated that the next LC badged vehicle will get a more offroad centric focus in the US market as a replacement. I'd wager it'll look a lot like a LC Prado considering the 4runner and Lexus GX already run the same frame, but the overlap with the T4R is considerable so maybe not.

The FJ-esque replacement you describe is way too radical of a concept for Toyota to ever imagine.

Just saw it's also factory triple locked on the GS Sport, at least. Most likely the other trim levels also.
