11, 18, 42, 43 all served big penalties this weekend. NASCAR wasn’t kidding about bringing the hammer down on teams this year.

So allegedly it has to do with something they found under the vinyl wrap. However, considering they use lasers in pre-race inspection; if it's an aero advantage, I can't see how it would pass pre-race and suddenly not be ok afterwards. Seems like needless and avoidable drama to me. It isn't like it was something manipulated after inspection or an adjustment made during the race that went too far.

It probably has something more to do with it being a part NASCAR clearly stated the teams are not allowed to manipulate. In those areas it is cut and dry. If they have been found to have been manipulated then the car will be disqualified. It might have passed inspection just fine, hell they might have even seen it and waited until the race was over to prove a point. It also could have been something that they got away with and someone at HMS or any other team caught and contested and caused NASCAR to take a look. JGR found some speed somewhere, LOL...

I mean I get it, Chase happened to back into a win so it is not popular among the masses that dislike Chase. Fine, cool. It is what it is. It is not some grand conspiracy to hand Chase another win. That does not benefit NASCAR at all. And who knows. The 9 could get caught next. They have rules and they all live in the gray. It can be called whatever you like but at the end of the day for them to DQ a winning car it was way outside the rulebook and blatant. More info will come out and JGR can appeal if they feel they were wronged.

Yeah, kind of hard to argue the "did not give an advantage" argument when both cars in violation finished 1-2 and one of them dominated the race. All the top teams play in the gray and I like that they do. But they all get caught at some point and NASCAR is waiving the parity flag to attract more interest in the sport. They don't want people coming in who are paying all that money knowing they are competing to be in the top 20. They all need to feel like they have a real shot for at least a handful of races a year. JGR found something and figured they would give it a go. It obviously provided an advantage so they went with it. It happens. I am sure the 9 has some shady interpretations of the rulebook also. Sometimes you get called to task.

The real story is where this puts KB in contract negotiations. I mean, you just got embarrassed as a company. That will have an ill effect on sponsors. And did it at the home track of your biggest sponsor and driver in a race they paid for. Then on the same day Ty gets in your B team equipment on 12 hours notice in a car he has never driven and runs clean and finishes what 13th. One could argue that in this car, the benefit of having KB is not much over bringing up Ty.

KB doesn't have a sponsor anyway for next year, so only egg in the face is on JGR. After yesterday and what Ty Gibbs did in the 45, it's not looking good for KB and JGR. There is just too much money and no primary sponsor for KB. Promote Ty, pay him a rookie salary, keep Monster and KB moves on.

SHR is starting to make more and more sense. I just can't see KB in the 10 car. Not sure what's going to happen to KBM as well. Do they move away from Toyota and go Ford or does that program go away.

The longer and longer KB goes without a contract, the more I believe he's done with JGR.

I agree, my point was it not being a good look for potential sponsors. I mean when you really break it down, Kyle just has to have some performance. His one win was at a dirt track event where we was sitting 3rd half a lap back of the leaders and it fell in his lap. Other than that his performance this year has not been what we come to expect of him. Really JGR as a whole has not had the performance. The 20 is the only consistent car that has had speed out of that shop. It is all just speculation but Kyle needs a solid second half and a deep run in the playoffs regardless.

Agreed here as well. KB has not produced what was expected of him. A new kid, contract disasters, Brextons racing, KBM (there's got to be stress there too with Toyota). It's all catching up to him. Any other team, any other driver, if you look at KBs numbers and placings this season, it's not THAT bad. He's in the playoffs but I can't see him going too deep with everything that is going on inside and outside of NASCAR.

As you said, it's all speculation. It'll sure be an interesting end, regardless of which was this goes for KB.

I'm pretty sure KB is out at Gibbs. Everything now is a formality. He probably can't speak until the ink is dry on the new contract.
Some say Ford will throw tons of $ at him to pick up his truck program but this flies in the face of what Ford has been doing for the past decade which is: Let TRD foot the bill to bring up young talent, then snipe them because there aren't enough Cup seats for all of them.

    Top places he could land:
18: 1-year extension at Gibbs with TRD sponsorship
10: No announcement at SHR on who will get this ride
4: Harvick is clearly done with racing
Toyota affiliate: Gibbs probably has the highest paid drivers in the garage due to longstanding contracts. if any of these guys move elsewhere, they're going to take a big pay cut which means other teams will have to sweeten the deal with an ownership stake, which is where the charters come into play. The only Toyota satellite team is 23Xl and there are no seats available. MJ is not going to let Bubba go for a Kyle Busch. Bubba is a value driver and brings sponsors.

Whatever happens, Kyle has to be in something competitive next year that he can win in. He needs one more consecutive season with a win and he has that title with the most in history and I doubt it will ever be broken. I think that means more to him than anything else at this point. One could argue that he has surpassed the King with his resume of wins across all series and add to that the consecutive seasons with a win title with how much more even the cars are now opposed to when Richard was out there with 200 more HP than everyone else.

    Ty Gibbs to the 18

I think the word is that Reddick will take over the 45 in 2024. Gibbs is definitely slated for the 18 in 2024. Pawpaw wants to keep him in Xfinity for one more season before bringing him and Monster up.
