He has 2 wins this year. KB backed into 1 this year and hasn’t been looking good lately and now he has sponsor trouble.

KB backed into his win by putting himself in a position to take advantage of a mistake. Toyota in general has struggled, only more recently finding consistent speed. No doubt KB has struggled recently.

Meanwhile, Bowman has 7 wins in 6 years (5 full time) with Hendrick and Byron has 4 wins in 5 years with Hendrick. Busch isn't going to Hendrick and all of their drivers are under contract for next year. However, if Hendrick were to let someone go early (as JJ suggested), I'd imagine it would be Byron over Bowman.

I don't think they'd part with either but Byron has a brighter future, in my opinion. I'll go the other way.

    Good thing I don't own a NASCAR team :D

I agree. But Bowman's only real disadvantage is that he's slightly older. Byron hasn't done much since his days at KBM. But he's still got a lot of career ahead of him. They both do.

LOL, you obviously do not understand the relationship between Rick Hendrick, Dupont and Liberty University. Byron is Liberty's boy so he is not going anywhere and whenever you see Liberty on that car it is being paid by the Dupont family. I am doubtful you will see KB go to HMS but if he does it would be the 48 and all I was saying is they can afford to do it. My guess would be Kaulig. But I do not see Kyle getting into a 2nd or 3rd tier team. Who knows!

So I am from a small town in rural VA. A little over an hour from Lynchburg VA where Liberty U is. Rick Hendrick is close with the Dupont family and hence the sponsorship of the 24 for all these years. Now, the Dupont family is very close to the Falwell's (founders of Liberty U). To the tune of the DuPont's donating a metric fuck ton of money to the university and thousands of acers of land. They still funnel a lot of money through the university and the Dupont family has merged its business with several other companies such as Dow and Axalta and so on. Throughout all that they (the DuPont's) still deliver truckloads of cash and support to Liberty. Hence it being plastered all over the 24 car. I mean, name another privately held religious university that can stand to be the primary sponsor for an HMS car and not be at least called out for it. William Byron is also a graduate of Liberty and does carry the banner for what they represent. So, in my opinion. Byron is not going anywhere.

On that note, my brother lives in Midland where Dow is headquartered. Lots of money around there. But yeah, I definitely believe what you're saying. Money talks, especially these days.

Although word is NASCAR is trying to rework the TV contract so more money goes to the teams which would put less emphasis on getting sponsorship to pay for drivers and equipment.

Ty Gibbs back in again this weekend. Kurt didn't say anything about not being cleared brain-wise this time, but basically mentioned his body isn't physically ready to be back in the car yet.

    Many & varied
    2023 Silly Season Updates
(cause it's on my mind. Here are the full-time chartered teams)

    1. Chastain
    2. Cindric ('23 is a contract year)
    3. Dillon
    4. Harvick ('23 is his final year, IIRC)
    5. Larson
    6. Keselowski
    7. Lajoie (apparently he wants out and is looking elsewhere)
    8. Reddick (out after '23, rumors RCR could pull him and replace him with Sheldon Creed)
    9. Elliott
    10. Almirola (likely retiring but he's back on the fence about it)
    11. Hamlin (says he'll be around as long as FedEx is around)
    12. Blaney ('23 might be a contract year for him)
    14. Briscoe
    15. Cody Ware (Possibly Cole Custer if Kyle Busch moves to SHR #41 or Preece if Almirola sticks around another year)
    16. Kaulig is considering a full-timer. Could be Hemrick or they could make a play for Kyle Busch
    17. Buescher
    18. Ty Gibbs (if Busch truly leaves)
    19. Truex (for one more year)
    20. Bell
    21. Burton
    22. Logano
    23. Wallace ('23 is a contract year)
    24. Byron (not going anywhere with DuPont $ funneled through Liberty University)
    31. Haley (though might get bumped if Kyle Busch rumors are true)
    34. McDowell (year to year)
    38. Gilliland (this team is often year to year with drivers. See Alfredo, Nemechek, and on and on)
    41. Custer (unless Kyle Busch comes over)
    42. Gragson (no sponsor named, likely piecemeal like with Dillon)
    43. Jones
    45. Kurt Busch (if he can return, Reddick in '24 unless they buy out his '23 contract at RCR)
    47. Stenhouse (rumors that this team is for sale. Possible entryway for Dale Earnhardt Jr. to buy into Cup)
    48. Bowman
    51. Possibly Cole Custer if Kyle Busch takes the 41 seat.
    77. Billicki or Cassill
    78. McLeod (these guys are sitting on gold with their team charter, rumored to be worth up to $28 million)
    99. Suarez
