Not a fan of it, personally. I joke about it being a Hendrick thing, but I think it had more to do with being a playoff driver. I think it should have stuck, especially considering the points it cost the 11, and I'm not much of an 11 fan. But I do agree that it's not the same as Harvick, although the timing on that is peculiar.

Very well. LOL, yeah. I mean if the 24 wins it all. Holy hell, what a cluster that will be. NASCAR should have addressed it during the race. I wonder if ol Rick made a donation to the members on the review committee. Rick's like, hey you know I left some new Chevrolets out in the parking lot with the keys in them if you all want to use those for a while that would be fine.

I do not disagree about it being a playoff thing either. You know the cars that run in Phoenix are not legal. No way the Champion always ends up winning the last race. And it seems like NASCAR is bringing the hammer down on anyone that is not in the playoffs for fear of taking the focus off of what they are promoting being only the drivers in those rounds. I thought it was awesome that a playoff driver had not won up until last week but NASCAR does not seem to like that.

I'd love to see an incentive for non-playoff drivers to win that race. Shake things up a bit. I agree that it's annoying that the final 4 seem to run top 4 all race.

I do agree with Denny in that what is hurting the sport is NASCAR pocketing way to much of the revenue. They need to share that wealth and let the sport grow and then they will make more money but the sport will also along with the other prominent people in the sport. A LOT of business pay NASCAR to be a part of the sport but they do not let that trickle down.

Yep. Just look at the cost to get a charter combined with having to sell several primary sponsorships to afford a team, let alone be competitive. NASCAR's solution to move the numbers to allow larger logos likely hasn't really done anything to increase revenue either. Many are also complaining that this new car is more expensive, not less expensive, for the similar reasons the COT didn't save teams money.

Nobody ever accused nascar as being geniuses. Just like any other corporate company, they only care about padding their pockets.

Speaking of which, it sounds like NASCAR and the teams are currently "far apart" on negotiating a better deal, coinciding with the new TV deal

Yeah, NASCAR is arguing that they get 10% under the current TV deal. The teams split 25% and the tracks get 65%. The whole problem is that NASCAR owns most of the tracks so again. They pocket the majority. Essentially each team is a franchise and they should be treated just like a football team. This new car is costing about $500k and the parts are high and they are going through more than expected because they decided to field an IMSA car that only runs road courses. Drivers don’t wreck often and tracks have huge runoff areas before they get into a wall.

They will really have egg in their faces when one of the front runners for the championship gets a concussion and can’t drive in the final race.

The car definitely isn't designed to run ovals, the teams have made it work, a little. Definitely not designed to run the speeds they run and hit a wall.

NASCAR is amending the language on the rule they used to penalize the 24. Guessing they're likely closing any loophole the board may have used to revise the penalty.
