    ODDS TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP:
    Updated 10/24/22
    (Source)

    • Briscoe 2,000-1
    • Bell 66-1
    • Blaney 25-1
    • Byron 7-1
    • Hamlin 5-1
    • Chastain 9-2
    • Logano 11-4
    • Elliott 19-10
Briscoe is the biggest dang dark horse I've ever seen. If he were to win, he would be the biggest dark horse champion since Kulwicki in 1992.

I've liked Chastain more & more this year. He takes moves the veterans won't take. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, he owns up to it, takes his licks, and moves one. I'm pulling for him from now until the November finale. Between his avg finish and Hamlin's mouth, getting through Martinsville unscathed will be a Herculean effort.

Blaney has never won at the Paperclip, but he has the best avg. finish among playoff drivers but luck doesn't seem to be on his side this season. Still, I'd love for him to pull a Crafton and win it all without winning anything, just to throw sand in NASCAR's face.

Elliott is in a similar boat to Blaney in not being hot right now. Still, his stats look good for Martinsville and he *could* sneak in. I'm gonna do hot take and say he is eliminated this weekend.

    Final 4 Prediction:
    • Logano
    • Hamlin
    • Chastain
    • Blaney

    Martinsville Driver Averages:
    • Blaney 10.2
    • Hamlin 10.7 (5 wins)
    • Logano 11.7 (1 win)
    • Elliott 13.4 (1 win)
    • Byron 15.1 (1 win)
    • Bell 17.4
    • Briscoe 19.3
    • Chastain 24.3

Hamlin isn't going to do anything to Chastain, it would not look good for him to take out somebody.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I expect Denny wins this weekend and puts himself in. Chase I see hanging around the top 5 all day unless he gets spun. Remember how great Gordon was here and Chase has the same crew chief so AG knows how to get it done here. Still, I could see the 9 getting into some trouble as I expect the 24 will be in the mix also.
As much as I hate to say it. This all has the feel of the 22 winning it all this year. And that is typical, runs like dog shit most of the season and backs into a few when it counts.

Hopefully we see some tire wear this weekend. If not it will be a long one without no way to pass.

I would not say he is head and shoulders above the rest but this schedule fell into a sweet spot for him and they will have had several weeks to prepare and Joey has plenty of time to get his head right. I think they will be tough to beat. Just another reason this format is complete crap. Meanwhile Max wrapped up the title with three races to go in F1. If Chevrolet does not win this championship that will go to show you how stupid this system is. In any other top tier of motorsport Chase would have been crowned last week. NASCAR's WWE format!

The problem here is that if the tires do not wear then they will be able to run this like a road course where you have to get points at the end of a stage but will end up in the back of the pack and lapped or you pit with 2 to go and start in the front but get no stage points. Could be a complete shit show but that is what NASCAR wants. It came out recently that NASCAR said they are not in the racing business, they are in the entertainment business. That is concerning.

As much as I'd love to see the 9 miss the final 4, I just don't see it happening without help. Especially with an outside driver winning last week.

I pick the #22 because he looks like my dentist. If @StayinStock were a race car driver, I would pick him because he looks like my doctor. My dentist never juggled my nuts yet so the nod would have to go to the doctor. o_O
