Yeah, I mean coming into 3 on the last lap from here out, if you are willing to sacrifice a car. Not much of a way to beat that!

What sucks for Chase is though he won the most races, and the most points and scored the regular season championship. He is not eligible for the owners points because that’s a playoff too. So, the 5 is still in that with his win in the round of 8 and with that being what pays the most. The 5 will be the focus for HMS at PIR. So the 1, 20 and 22 are in along with the 5. 5,20,22 in on wins and the 1 for finishing 3rd in the round of 8 and Chase is out for finishing 4th in the round. Essentially kicked out by the 5’s win but this only happened because the 45 dropped out of the playoffs. It’s pretty much a cluster fuck!

Worry not, HMS has plenty of resources.

Lol, I am sure they will be fine. My point was how stupid the system is.

This isn't the first time the championship driver may not be the car that wins the owner's championship. I'll still take this system over the champion being decided with 3 races to go. I wouldn't mind seeing the last round be 3 races instead of 1 though.

Have to admit, I'm really taking a liking to this watermelon farmer. Bonsai move for sure but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. It sure didn't look like the right side of that car took that much damage at all (new cars are definitely a lot tougher).
I find it funny how some are calling for the move to be banned, how it was a cheap and dangerous shot (including some drivers) but riding the fence has been going on in NA$CAR for over 70 years (Darlington stripe anyone?). Riding the cushion? (yeah, yeah, dirt) Petty always rode the high line. How about banning blocking to stop those massive wrecks or wrecking the race leader to win? (rant over)
Going to be an interesting final.
    Cheers.

The only reason you prefer a playoff system would be because you do not care who is actually the best or deserving. You just want to be entertained. Playoffs in motor sport is just stupid.

Here we are. The 2022 Season Finale. What a fun, goofy season. Likely one of my recent favorites. Lots of winners, more parity than I've seen since the 1990s, and shocking finishes.

    Driver averages at Phoenix:
    • Elliott 10.7 (13 races, 1 win)
    • Logano 13.1 (27 races, 2 wins)
    • Bell 17 (5 races, best finish: 9)
    • Chastain 20.5 (8 races, best finish: 2)
    (Source)

As I mentioned, if Chastain wins the deal, he'll likely be the biggest underdog since Kulwicki won in 1992. The last time a team was not part of the Big 3 (HMS, JGR, Penske) and won the championship was Truex in 2017. Before this, Roush netted two trophies in 2003 and 2004. SHR got one in 2011, and RYR pulled one in 1999. Wild to think, but since 1995, only 5 teams outside the Big 3* have gotten championships, with HMS (14), JGR (5), and Penske (2) taking the lion's share. For this reason, I am excited to pull for Trackhouse to win this weekend.

*SHR was a Hendrick satellite and Furniture Row was a JGR satellite.

That was incredible! So happy for CBell. Looks like me and one other person voted for him to win it all. Looking pretty good! Ross is now a legend and I feel like they'll have the most fire under their ass for next week.

Well I have the 9 and 22 left of my final 3 pick. Here’s the order of how I’ll be pulling for next week. 20-9-22———————-1. I really like the 20 now. Really Really don’t like Ross, just wanna punch that stupid smile off his face. That being said he’ll probably win next week.:annoyed:

The only reason you don't is because you don't like any sort of anxiety. This system requires more consistency down the stretch and doesn't allow drivers to just coast. The whole "playoffs on motorsports" or "stick and ball" arguments are as weak as saying NASCAR is only about cars turning left.
