Last 20 or so laps were fun but it’s stupid when half the field is out in these races.

Agreed! People started leaving with 80 laps to go. Starting a race at 3:00 when people have to go to work and kids to school the next AM is ridiculous. We got home by 10, without stopping for supper.

    Monday report:
It was wicked windy all weekend. HOT in the sun (I look like a lobster today), and COLD in the shade.

There were at least ten bootleg tents selling random stuff (always cool) off-property.

AMS had a lot of pre-race stuff going on outside and inside the track. Carnival type atmosphere with daredevils, magicians, fairground rides, driver interviews, MLB meet & greets, monster truck, & Weinermobile. Saturday infield concert & party, fireworks. Legends & bandelero races after trucks & Xfinity races Saturday. It was a real, old school party atmosphere.

since we renewed our tickets from last year we got complimentary pit passes. Walked pit road, saw the cars up close, ran into celebrities, and met a few drivers (Gragson, Reddick, and Ty Dillon).

As for the racing: it’s not old school Atlanta or Old-old school Atlanta, which is a good thing. It was great racing, great intensity the whole day. As much as I dislike pack racing, this was fun. I do wish they’d give them a slightly softer tire and more HP.

The stands were PACKED like I haven’t seen at AMS in 15 years. I’ve been going there for 30 years and this is likely my favorite race I’ve attended there.

Good to see a show well put together outside of just the racing. Phoenix is a disaster. They only had 6 merchandise tents, half full, and you had to have a race ticket to go inside to purchase SWAG. Not much of a fan experience, that's for sure. Sounds like Atlanta did it right. Selling out a race is not a good indication of a great experience. My fear is Phoenix may lose the championship because it seems all they care about is ticket sales.

Good to see you had a great time!

As a season ticket holder for 15 years, we waited a long time and have had the second to last race of the season, up until 2 years ago. It wasn't always like it is now. The vendors and haulers used to be outside of the gates and there used to be all kinds of RVs for sale, Motocross demonstrations and just a bunch of family fun. Things just started going down hill the moment that Phoenix would be the last race of the year and for the Championship.

So, as a season ticket holder, I'd like to see the Championship stay here as long as possible. However, with the lack of 'flare' to cater to non-race attendees, it really sucks. Hell, March this year was sold out for Sunday but still nothing for anyone to enjoy unless you went into the track. Without a ticket, you can't get through the gates. I'd just like to see them appreciate the fans a lot more than letting them in the gates to watch the race and then leave.

I can understand that. I'm not proposing taking Phoenix away from the playoff at all. Afterall, the last few races of the year will have to remain in the south due to weather elsewhere. But, I don't think Phoenix has to remain the championship race every season.

Boy, this schedule is throwing curveball after curveball! COTA this weekend. I think we'll see Larson, Elliott, Reddick, Briscoe, and Cindric vying for the win. Hopefully, it is dryer than last year, for the driver's sake.

I listened to the Dale jr. Download last night and he didn't say a thing about the Atlanta race. I'm wondering if the episode was pre-recorded since last week's episode was a collection of clips.
