Brad K and the 6 team penalized 100 driver and owner points, 10 playoff points, fined $100k, and the crew chief suspended 4 races for modifying vendor parts. I haven't seen anything specify what the modification was or what part.

couldn't have happened to a nicer guy/team. Not a fan of the 6's antics this year.

Just watched Out of the Groove and his speculation is that since it is an L2 penalty, it could be related to the body of the car. NASCAR still hasn't announced any specifics.

There was a question raised that if cars go to R&D in Charlotte, penalties are not levied on discoveries made, only a stern message to the garage about the specific infraction discovered. So, given that they levied a penalty after taking the car to R&D, NASCAR has broken its own protocol and this is possibly a severe safety concern. I didn't notice Brad having any advantage on Sunday. Given that NASCAR is being vague about specifics makes me think they assume there are several mods afoot amongst teams in the garage and they hope to stamp it all out with this near-death blow to BKR.

Is it a steep penalty? Yes. Near death blow? I don't think so. Yeah, RFK isn't swimming money like Scrooge McDuck but 100k isn't that harsh. As for points they've averaged 24 a race so it's a big hit but not insurmountable in 21 races.

I guess the "near-death blow" comment is based on them now being 35th in points behind guys like Ware, Smithley, and Ragan. He's only above Biffle and Villenueve.

Not sure. In the past, if you win a race, you also have to be in the top 25 in points.

yes. If that's the case, points would make up the 16 as well as wins.
