That rain I was seeing might have been the fence reflecting off the pace truck’s paint and a quick glance Willy B’s car looked like it was wet but it’s his damn Raptor Liner scheme:rofl:

You were right about the pace truck. No idea how old that was though. Pretty sure it had been sprinkling a little bit for a while though, judging based on the 12's camera earlier on. When I attended MIS last year it was raining for a good 5 laps before they called the caution.

    Race report:
We lucked into a luncheon with Mike Helton, Brad Keselowski, and Clay Campbell (track president), walked around the gypsy tents and saw some neat stuff but didn't buy anything. I texted Chase Briscoe and coordinated a pre-race meet & greet with my kiddo. Briscoe is one of his favorites and it was my kid's birthday. Chase made kiddo's day and one of his crew guys gave my kiddo his crew hat, which Chase signed, so kiddo was pleased as heck. Then the snow started falling. My god that was cold. We had 3-4 layers on, gloves, knit caps, scarves, AND Hot Hands packets stuffed in our clothes and we were shaking to the bone by the end. I am so glad they chopped 100 laps off the race distance. There's no way I could've made it another 20 minutes. I didn't even care that the race was boring. I just wanted to get it over with so we could get back to our tent and turn on the heater.

    A few things:
They need to take off the tapered spacer so the cars spin tires when trying to hook up out of the turns.
Goodyear needs to bring a softer tire that will put rubber down on the track.
The track president said they moved to a night race so as to not compete with the Master's Golf Tournament. This was already a cold race in the daytime. Perhaps they should swap dates with Spring Darlington. I went to a Spring Darlington truck race back around 2011 and it was perfect weather.

We're going back next year and will likely sit lower in the turn. We were at the very top and the wind blowing over the grandstand was BRUTAL. This was the coldest race I've ever attended, second only to the last time I went to Martinsville in 2015.

All good stuff. I love going to that track! It's only a couple of hours from where I grew up and was always one of my favorites. I feel you talking about sitting at the top on a cold day. I did that on a Sat race at Rockingham early in the season years ago. Cold to the bone!

Might've been 2017 when I went, then. I was supposed to Attend Atlanta for the March '93 race, which was knocked out by a blizzard:

Yeah, I believe this was likely a combination of the cold, wider tire, and 70 less HP. It also went to show that people actually don't want the old Bristol back considering how much people hated the one groove racing at Martinsville. It was cool to see the bumper now and again, but that seemed like about the only way to pass with little to no chance to defend if you got moved to the high side.

putting aside horrible weather for a race, that's a pretty spectacular photo! Is that Ryan Blaney's ride underneath that Motorcraft car cover?

Lol, I think it was Geoff Bodine in the Bud Moore entry. If it was 93 that would have been Gordon’s rookie year. The Wood Brothers were sponsored by Citgo back in the 90’s and Morgan Sheppard was the driver.
