Had to cut 4 trees, and drive over 2 trees (twice).

Winched once, winch shit the bed the second time I was going to pull. At that point we turned around and hoped for the best. Trip out was dicy.

@Blue Canary is a friggen warrior. I was plowin a trail for him, but with no lockers, it was all up to him to keep his momentum/wheel speed/etc working. Especially climbing out.

Got back to the main road just as the sun was setting.

Gas light was shining at me just as we got back to Toualumne.

Was that the sand dunes going towards pinnament hills in DV? That shit was gnarly. Especially when you can't see where you're going with all that sand in your front windshield. Can't even turn on the wipers for awhile.. Let alone trying to find your line again.. lol

Edit: or towards race track Playa/ tea kettle junction?

Definately want to do Hunter Mountain next time. We had a choice Lippincott or Hunter Mt on our trip. Glad we did Lippincott this time, want to do Hunter Mt next time.

Hey guys. Jealous of all you guys going off roading and using your rigs. Is there anything close to Sacramento? Like within 2 hours? Doesn’t have to be something crazy.

side note. Went up to Mormon emigrant trail yesterday (3-15-2022) and it was closed. Bunch of semi trucks carrying wood.

Head up to Georgetown area, off Wentworth Springs Rd. Plenty of roads to get lost on up there, just be careful you don't end up on someones property.

Sorry just saw this. We had a rep for AirMed transport come and present about supplemental insurance. It’s $85 a year for your household and can save you literally tens of thousands of dollars. If you are remote, get hurt, and get air lifted out most people’s insurance will cover a percentage but not all. I personally do not want to pay 10 or 20% of an $80,000 bill! So they pick up the remaining balance if their choppers/ambulances are used, and they have dispatch locations all over CA and the west coast. They said most of their calls aren’t even remote, but from car accidents on highways.

It was a really good meet up with about 65 people. PM if you want more info, and yeah TW blocks outside links. If you tinyurl them they will work on TW.

Now don’t hate me but I sold my Tacoma. It had 136k and was a 2018. I sold it for 40k and I’m picking up my Tundra tomorrow. I’m going to build it up very similarly to my Tacoma. 219D2448-1350-4DFF-A58E-5C083BDEA61B.jpg

    Just FYI-
The helicopter/medical transport insurance has 2 options, medical transport which is pretty cheap for a household, and the Fly-U-Home service. The first one is pretty self-explanatory, if they help move you they don’t charge you any additional money. The section 2nd option is a little bit more morbid but if you were to die out of state they would fly your body back very quickly. Normally if you die out of state they put you in a freezer truck and haul your butt back home which is costly and lots of logistics for your family. They will also transport you hospital to hospital. Let’s say you were in Death Valley and get really injured and you end up in Henderson Nevada at an ICU for a couple of months they will move you back to your home hospital to recover there instead. The second option costs a little more but for an entire household we are basically talking 1.5 tanks of gas (Let’s Go Brandon).

I do not work for this company nor do I make any money off of it. If three people sign up and reference my ID number I think I get an additional month for free. Other than that I think it’s a really good deal and honestly smart if we are looking out for our families. Just my 4 cents (due to inflation)

My wife and I do a lot of alpine climbing. We've had that service for 5 or 6 years now. If we ever do get injured it's going to be much much cheaper. Can't remember exactly but I think our policy is $100-ish a year. Considering what a single life flight would cost, I'll pay that happily!

    Forestwide

The Seasonal Road and Trail closure IS in effect.

    • Extended Closure: Rainfall, soil moisture, road and trail conditions, and weather forecasts are factors that may trigger an extension of the seasonal closure past April 1st.
    • Annual Closure: January through at least March 30. This may be extended depending on forest conditions.
During the winter and spring months vehicle use on dirt roads and trails is prohibited. Use of soaked roads and trails contributes to sedimentation of streams and costly trail damage that can be prevented by avoiding use when trails are holding water. By allowing roads and trails to dry sufficiently, users will ensure quality trail opportunities in the future.

I use to have this when I was younger and worked for a rattlesnake removal company. It really gave me piece of mind in the event of a remote job in range of the Mojave rattlesnake (venom type/potency no joke compared to our local Northern Pacific rattlesnake which is not so bad). Fortunately I never used it but it was a necessary precaution that I was happy was available.
