    Correct.
A small jewelers flat screwdriver is required.

The easier side to remove is where the female terminals are housed. Connector on top.

Ok so for unknown reasons... I went outside just now to remove that pin, and the lights were off and appear to function, as they should. I have no clue.

I was trying to update my scan tool prior to going back out, I was able to get a PDF of the codes. I also cleared the codes, so I will check to see if any re-appear.

Prior to this, I was looking at the fuse panel at the driver side and noticed a fuse was missing. I replaced said fuse - it appears it was "Towing Brk No. 2"; likely unrelated, and/or they don't provide that from the factory. In any case, I put a 5-A there just because, then drove the truck up to under a tree area so I could continue troubleshooting. At that time, lights continued to stay on.

Fast forward to about 10 minutes ago, I went back out to pull the codes with the now-updated Innova 5610 reader, but as soon as I opened the door I noticed the lights were off - the push switches also functioned, as intended. I'm honestly scared to touch the three-position switch in the overhead console now...

I will see how long this behaves but it's all very strange. It seems to be intermittent at this point which makes me think a possible short somewhere...

Edit: @caribe makaira I really appreciate you taking the time to talk this through!

Again, thank you for the help. I cannot stand the dealership(s); they seem to have zero clue on how to troubleshoot.

I wouldn't call this fixed, at least not yet. But, its nice to see a bit of positives.

I'm back... Problem has returned. I did notice that the two lights in the bed were not on (when the interior lights remained on). So, I popped those out, looked, found that some water had gotten to the driver side connector pins. What are the chances this has resulted in a short?

@caribe makaira any insight? I'm looking around for wiring schematic which illustrates the inside bed lights. If you happen to have one, that would be helpful.

Looks like the cargo lights are controlled by the CARGO LP Relay so I can't see them affecting the Body ECU.

Thanks. I think at this point, I am just pulling the fuse and need to walk away for a while. I've reached that frustration stage...

We really need to be able to talk to the Body ECU and see what it's seeing as inputs and doing on the outputs.
I can look at the diagrams again later and see if there's any other tests we can do but without seeing what the module is actually trying to do it still leaves unknowns.

Have you done this test: remove all connectors to the door(s) closed switch(es) and test.

    I’ll try this tomorrow.

as another data point: the lights do eventually go off. I’m not sure the time, maybe an hour or so. So, that makes me think the relay within the module is probably ok.

According to the info on the owner's manual it should turn off after 20 min if no tied systems are actuated.

That's probably the Body ECU turning off the DOME CUT Relay.

I looked this over again and I think if I was testing this for a dome light stuck on I'm unplugging the R44 connector and with a test light connected to battery positive going to Pin 22 (Yellow) and seeing if it stays lit when the dome light should be off (doors closed). If it does then I for sure need to get into the Body ECU with a scan tool and see what the inputs/outputs are doing.

I'm just about ready to start troubleshooting this again. I will have to analyze what you said. Where is the R44 connector?

The door connectors, how would I access those?

Another question, looking at the diagrams - Could the rear dome switch be to blame here I wonder? I'm going to check it with the meter.

Have you ever taken the kick panels off? That’s gonna be where most the connections from outside into the inside are made.

Rear dome is sort of slave to front switch.

Choice for it is ON- Ground
Dim ON&OFF (Door), OFF or ON.
