I removed my Air Dam when I bought the TRD Skid. The Air Dam is more cumbersome than anything...plus, the Air Dam won't fit with the TRD skid installed.

I bought the Talon CAT plate first and worked with Shaun for fitting with the TRD skid. Here's a recent photo before doing an oil change on Dover Air Force Base Auto Hobby Shop.

And the day I installed the TRD Skid.

    EDIT:

A couple more pics with air dam attached:

I removed mine on my 2016 and 2020 and absolutely no change to fuel economy. I did however notice I get more attention from the ladies!

I lose way way more MPG listening to my exhaust tone and enjoying the mid range RPM powerband pull than I did by removing the chin strap.

If the air dam did anything noticeable, it would be on the OR and other models too. And wouldn't be that easy to remove. It might help with mpg but so slight you won't notice or care.

Take it off, the airdam made the shelf in the garage 1% more aerodynamic for a whole year until I threw it in the garbage.. Now even the shelf looks better without it.

Yeah but if you have or get a hood scoop it negates this decrease.

I took it off my sr5 last fall when I installed the knock off TRD style skid Plate. I noticed no measurable loss of mpg, probably less than .5mpg. It looks far better. Way better protection than the stock belly pan.

The incredible amount of horsepressure the scoop adds is worth any decrease in gas miliage.

Hey I got an idea. Lose the chin strap but then add a tonneau cover! Lose some MPG in front but gain more MPG in the rear!

This won't help if you have a scoop though. It takes some fuel to look this goddamn good.

I removed it. The only noticeable difference is with a strong headwind.

I also started a trend at my job. Shortly after, the other Tacomas in the parking lot lost their dams.

Take a pic with it on. Then go ahead and take it off. Think its 10-12 10mm bolts. Takes less than 2 minutes. Look at your truck from same angle as picture you took to compare if you like it better on or off.
Im different than most here as I took it off and thought it looked naked without it. But I also dont have the Pro skid or lifted. So Im a nerd I guess....

why would you want to remove something that increases your MPGs? unless you are doing some extreme off-roading i don't see the benefit. i have yet to get mine caught on anything while wheelin'.

    Oh look, another mod....
There was a guy on this site that removed the air dam from his truck. Two years later...BAM! Herpes.

    Don't risk it!

The Off Road & Sport get the same est. mileage. The Off Road doesn't to have the skirt, and no it does not protect anything....
