Airbags don’t work well with hard landings… Removing airbags had nothing to do with swapping to race seats… not “bucket” seats.

As I recall the stock seats have airbags inside and have a connection going to the seat. "Race" seats don't have airbags. Just wondering what you did with the connectors that run to the seat. Are you just taking the whole airbag ECU out of the truck?

I wasn’t aware that the seats themselves have airbags. AZ Wire Pro has taken care of disabling or modifying any circuits.

Originally it was not our plan to remove them or add a roll cage. But should the bags deploy in a remote area after a hard landing could be a disaster. We also had a decision regarding the GPS used to mark the race course during prerunning. Placement on the passenger dash required removal of the bag on that side.

We’ve sold the airbags and the front seats. We still have the rear seats and all of the seatbelts.

The cage was welded in the spaces where the bags and seatbelts occupied. The upholstery guys are doing something cool to modify those areas. I know that they’ve added sound proofing in the overhead and doors and walls.

Alright I understand now. Yeah when I took my truck through a lake I had to gut the interior and noticed the seats have an airbag connection running to them. Thanks for the info!

This build rocks. I love the attention to detail, and I’m looking forward to following along.

With that kind of girth, you might have one of the few Tacomas that actually needs clearance/Raptor lights.

The front 30” Rigid Light Bars are a combination of Spot, Driving, and Flood. We added the yellow fog lights below. In addition we also placed two single row diffused lights at roughly 45 degrees for visibility in turns. Each wheel well have A-series lights. The guys also wanted to put two more diffused lights on the rear shock mount facing to each side. There are a lot of manufacturers of off-road lights, but we’ve used RIGID exclusively for racing and they haven’t disappointed.

Now there's some progress... Does that ARB twin have a cover in the bed for all the dust/dirt? I've got mine on a desertdoesitmount under the passenger seat. I think that cold air intake tube could be patented and sold as a kit. ;)
