Weak. That sucks

 

That sucks to hear so late in the game.. did the dealer say they had any allocations when you made the deposit? If not they could have just said sure we’ll order you one or try to trade another dealer for one which is unlikely. Most dealers I’ve talked to are only getting 1 or 2 TRD pros for the entire year and some told me they’re not getting any. Petawawa, Clarington, Belleville and Race Toyota in Lindsay were Ontario dealers that all had unspoken for TRD pro allocations as of a few weeks ago.. I called many in my search.

I'll have to try to call them. I'm doubly screwed because the local dealer already took my trade-in and hasn't acknowledge how they're going to handle the 3k in tax I was to have save on the new purchase.

 

I’m guessing it’s the dealer that’s trying to back out. I have a screen shot on my phone of the allocation from Toyota Canada for my ELG Pro.
If this particular dealer didn’t get allocated any Pros but had your order, they would want to say anything to make you believe it was out of their control.
This feels like fake news to me. But I could be wrong.

 

It was Sherwood Toyota. I'm kind of glad I didn't deal with them looking back. I wasn't local and probably saved myself the headache of showing up to get it and then find out its not available.

 

man that sucks. If you want a Pro it sounds like you need to get your trade back and find a new dealer that has an allocation.

The already sold my truck. So if I go elsewhere, I'll be out about 3k in tax savings from my trade-in. There's something fishy going on.

Nope. Pm if your looking. I’ll give you the salesman’s #. Seems like a good dude. I actually just got off the phone with him a few mins ago. Told me it’s coming 3 week of March.

 

Not sure how that’s works. The only way they can sell it is if they have title to it. Unless you sold it to them and got paid they can’t legally sell it. Most dealers here in Manitoba won’t take your vehicle on “trade” until the new one comes in. If they haven’t paid you yet it’s theft.

 

Are you saying you traded in your old truck on a new truck and turned over your old truck to the dealership without getting delivery of your new truck? That doesn't sound like a trade-in, it sounds like you sold your old truck to the dealership, except I doubt they have actually given you any cash, but they just got cash for your truck that they sold.

Something fishy? Sounds like they beat the crap out of you on this deal.

 

Well, they offered me an unsold TRD Sport Premium 6M or my deposit and trade amount (excluding any tax savings) back, stating that they weren't getting any TRD Pros this year.

I had an open order for a Electric Lime TRD Pro 6M.

I called 2 other dealers in the province and found 2 unsold TRD Pro 6A.

Still waiting for some kind concrete info or resolution from my dealer.

 

That's a pretty accurate assesment. There wasn't much of a deal other that putting a deposit on a truck. They offered decent cash on my trade in, since I didn't need a vehicle I was okay at the time.

 

If it was me, I would buy the TRD Sport Premium 6M, for less $ than a Pro, then spend the $ saved on aftermarket upgrades, be it rear diff locker, suspension or whatever. And if you take the Sport you still get the tax savings, don't you?

As far as colour choice goes, in the current low inventory market, imo it is a mistake to make colour a deal maker/breaker, within limits.

 

That's decent advice. Colour isn't really a hang up. I am after a TRD Pro 6M in any colour. You're right about using the trade in against the Sport, though.

 

So I just got a call from my Edmonton dealer. He did confirm that Toyota Canada will be getting a reduced amount of TRD Pro’s across all models here in Canada.
The dealer said if you don’t have a order in already for one, doubtful you would get one.
My dealer in edmonton is getting 2 Tacoma TRD Pro’s in April/May. And they don’t expect to get anymore for the year.

 

That's not promising. I did have an order in since last Sept though.

 

Just ordered a ‘22 DCSB TRD Off-road in Metallic Blue Crush. Given a timeframe of 3-5 months for delivery here in Newfoundland. Keeping my ‘11 Tacoma access cab TRD OR for a second reliable vehicle.

 

Hey, I got my truck from Petawawa. I ordered it, it got built 2 weeks later in Mexico, and then arrived a month and a half later. The dealership stays quiet until they get word it's on the truck a few days away from arriving. I've got two tacoma's from Pet and both were about 2 months wait total. You probably won't have updates until it's a week or less away from getting here.
