2022 Tacoma Discussion (Canadian edition)

Bit of a bummer, I placed a deposit in March 2022 hoping to get one by November as I don't actually have a safe winter vehicle. We'll see if it comes in next year. Maybe I won't die this winter in my 93 civic with bald summer tires

 

Got the call! 22 TRD Pro delivery on Wednesday. Was held at port in Vancouver for a little over 2 months.

 

Nice! Congrats man! Manual or auto? When did you order?

 

Ordered late last year. Originally wanted a manual, but Auto was the only one that came available. Pretty excited, Magnetic Grey and have some goodies ready to be installed.

 

Beauty! That's the colour I want too. Which dealer did you order through? Wanting to order from a few more and wondering which ones see the most come in.

 

Penticton Toyota. I have purchased my previous 3 Tacomas through their location and have always been treated extremely well. In return, I have continued to support them by sending referrals and completing my service work at their location (despite living out of town). I’m a big believer in what goes around comes around. I suggest building a strong/long lasting relationship with your dealer, especially in times like these.

Ordered 2022 Sport premium from a dealer in Québec (For security purposes I won’t specify where, because a buddy of mine is LEO and told me they started stealing brand new trucks off the lot at a high rate)

My dealer informed me that although the information about cancelled premiums may be true for elsewhere, he can confirm that on their end, he hasn’t heard this information.

My ETA remains July 1 - July 11, there is one person ahead of me who is received theirs next week.

Fingers crossed everyone gets their vehicles on time, these times are tough, let’s hope

Hoping everyone gets their tacos soon ! Had mine for just over a week and been loving every second. Already put 1500km on it ! My wallet doesn’t like the gas prices these days but these Tacoma’s are amazing to drive

 

Theoretically supposed to get my Trail Edition this Wednesday... Dealership in Vancouver. Fingers crossed.

 

I am supposed to receive my Trail the end of this week in Saskatchewan.

 

Post the Trails when you get them, curious if they are coming with the predator steps still...

The Oct 21 deposit on Pro has turned into a Trail and I have the option to go for that one, supposedly it's siting in a yard in Vancouver which sounds plausible with all the rest of the Trails that seem to be on the way to you guys.

 

I have this (probably unfounded) fear that Toyota has underestimated the demand for the Trail and that a bunch of dealers think they’re receiving the same vehicle. Apparently almost everybody who ordered one is expecting it this week…

…or there’s just some fat shipment of trail editions all coming at once.

If I get it this week I’ll post pics the day of!

 

Tacoma production is 30ish % down from last year. I think all trims are hard to get. I wanted a Pro and they said due to lack of parts Toyota is sending my dealer a Trail. I just saw one with no steps and chrome badges so even stuff that's supposed to be on a Trail seems to be missing...

 

Two things to note: some accessories may be installed at the dealership (like black badges/emblems and steps). Sometimes, the Canadian version is a bit different than the American one.

For instance, my Pro didn’t come with the black emblems on the sides and the black decal on the hood. Some description was later modified on the Toyota Canada website, but my dealer walked the talk and put it in for free.

Just received my call that I'll probably be able to pick-up on Saturday. They asked if I want undercoating/rust proofing, I'm in Vancouver and wondering if this is really necessary?

 

No, don't. If anything just use something like fluid film. I live in Van too. no rustproofing on my 2020 and no issues so far.

 

Electric Lime Manual delivery.... 10month wait. I could tell it was a Manual with all the jerking and lunges coming off the hauler.

 

Took delivery of my Pro last night. The team at Penticton Toyota were fantastic the whole way through. Hang in there guys, your truck is worth the wait!

 

Picking up my Trail edition in an hour!
