Oddly enough, I was on the Toyota site building a 2022 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 Sport and for some reason it will not allow a long bed to be selected with 4x4. It will accept Long bed as long as I choose 2 wheel drive or if I select Access Cab only.

Haha, I found that too… I called my salesmen for my 22, he doubled checked on their back end system and confirmed you can build a sport longbed v6 4x4. He said their website has lots of errors since adding the new tundra

I am interested in finding out what differences there are with the new model year 2022 for the TRD Sport.

    Probably nothing but color choice.

Dealer told me there are no differences for the sport trim, and I haven’t found any info to think otherwise. It seems the TRD pro is the only trim with changes. As well as the addition of the trail edition.

I am in the market for a new tacoma DCSB TRD Off-Road and reached out to a couple dealers that said I can put down a deposit and configure the exact specs I wanted on the website for no dealer mark-up. However, a reputable dealer I have sold a car to in the past was very vague on the process and was also charging $3k dealer fee over the MSRP. He had a car I had expressed interest in that was being allocated/delivered to them in a couple weeks so I imagine he wanted me to sign then and there for that specific car and was trying to deter me from ordering. Have any others had issues ordering through a dealer? I was quoted an estimated wait time ranging from 60 days to 6 months. I do not mind waiting so that is not necessarily a concern but just trying to gauge which dealers are being truthful as I do not want to put a deposit down, wait 6 months, and be told that they can not actually order the color/specs I am interested in.

What I am finding is the dealers ask for a deposit and "say" that I can order the specs I want and no dealer mark up over MSRP end up being vague on details of an order. From what I gather they ask for a deposit knowing that they have no allocations available not already sold. Instead I would be on a waiting list for 2 to 5 months in hope that a vehicle becomes available. No dealer has offered an actual allocation but instruct me that I would be put on a waiting list and mentioned after pressing them that they have back orders of about 5 months and that in about 5 months I could possibly have one allocated. Furthermore I would then wait 18 to 20 weeks for it to be built.

I have not been able to find a dealer that will actually order a truck >full stop<

I would like very much to be able to order a 2022 Tacoma DCLB Sport 4x4, I have been unable. The only thing that I can think of is to possibly give Toyota Corporate a call and see if they have any suggestions on how I could purchase a Tacoma that has certainty. I am fine with waiting for 18 to 20 weeks.

There is no “ordering” a Tacoma. Dealerships just wait to see what they can get allocated to them.

I understand that a dealer can request a specific build and they may or may not receive the order. I was told that it can take a few tries with an allocation request to get a specific build.

Really depends on the dealer and how "big" they are. I've been ordering Toyotas from the same dealer in Georgia since 2008 and they've never had a problem getting my exact build. Most of them have been Pro's of some sort (4runners, Tacos, Tundras). At first they would have to trade a Pro to get a Pro, but over the last few years there's never been an issue with ordering what I want.

What part of the country are you in? My north Georgia dealer always orders what I want.

Thanks, I will give them a try. I have family in the Bend area and went to college near there so it would be a good location.

Milton Martin. Ask for Brandon. I already gave him my build sheet and he's gonna start the order process on Oct 1st.
