For you guys that have the 3rd generation ( mine is a 2022 ) Tacoma SR 4 cyl 2 1/2 door model. The basic basic truck. I have 2 little tie down points under front end. I don’t think they they are actually tow hooks ? They do not seem big enough. I don’t think I can trust them to tie a strap and hook on and have some one pull me out if and when I fish tail the backend into the ditch in Iowa or Wisconsin. So I can only afford to do this one time. Truck is still Under warranty so what would you recommend for this truck for tow hooks on front end with out voiding my warrant ( have a lot warranty left ? Will pay my truck shop to put them on when they install my undercover lid on 6 foot bed next week. Thanks. Marty

Do not buy these, we're seeing them on lots of tacomas lately, super cheap. I wonder if they come with a disclaimer.

ARB sells this one, its expensive, but a little more trust worthy.

Honestly, I just recommend avoiding recovery from the front. If you have a factory hitch great, otherwise invest in a strong hitch and use it for recovery. Then you put in a recovery receiver and call it a day.

    My 2 cents :)

Yes. I see a lot of post on a lot of forums with people buying the wrong tow hooks for this truck. I bought the the rear Clevis , same receiver pull you pictured above. Curtis brand I think. Rated at 13,000 pounds. I better think long and hard I guess before I put anything on the front in on this little 2022 SR 4cyl. I just have to try to stay out of ditch I guess. Can easily happen in Iowa and Wisconsin we’re I will probably retire this year. Just could not stand that $47,000 price tag for the Tacoma 4x4 or a 789.00 a month payment on SS. MD

I also fell for the Demon front shackles, or nipple rings as some call them. I have since removed them. I do have the Off Road model tow hook on now.

At some point I would like to upgrade to the ARB

No disclaimers with these. Also nothing stating a load rating.

most add-on front bumpers will have real recovery points on them. alternatively, i installed an sdhq hidden winch mount specifically because it adds 2 front recovery points that tie in across 2 points, as well as a winch to the front of the truck without significantly changing the trucks appearance from stock.

but the ARB is going to be the only model with an official capacity rating on it.

I went with the 4X Innovations front hidden hitch receiver, and added the BAMF front bumper support brackets.

That’s really tucked away. How do you get to the hitch pin?

I've been toed out of light mud on flat ground mud a couple times using the basic tie down loops on my work truck. For most things people need to get pulled out of, the chunkier tow hook that comes standard on the TRD Offroad trim is sufficient, it mounts in place of the flimsy metal tie down that normally is present here. If you have the front air dam, this area is located behind it at the right front lower end of the truck.

If you want a heavy duty pull point that will do kinetic recoveries and not just static pulls, then the ARB Recovery point is much beefier and mounts in the same area but also attaches to the frame and not just the front support brackets.

EDIT: noticed the ARB hook photo wasn't displaying, fixed the image link for it.

Thanks for the good info guys to a new member. Man this has become a big issue for us on the little 4 CYL trucks. I like the photo of the BTL-Y-wing posted. I guess I could buy this hook from Toyota itself. Will do some research on cost etc. thanks again for every ones help. Buying Truck accessories reminds me of buying accessories for a rifle. Always something. Ha ha. Marty

The only option actually rated for dynamic recoveries (like with the stretchy rope and running start) is the ARB.
Its also the only front recovery point that's been tested to not affect frontal crash test safety.

Incorrect. Even ARB bumpers are not recovery rated and that is why they have made their bolt on front Recovery Point https://store.arbusa.com/exterior/recovery-points/

ARB front recovery point is also designed to fall down and back in a front impact so it will not twist the frame.
