Look up hidden winch bumper, there are dozens of companies that make them. The Green Lane one is really nice because it's one of the only ones that is made out of aluminum, so no rust worries and a lot lighter.

And for people buying from the US it's an absolute steal with the CAD being worth dirt

    Yep.

This is why I haven’t bought a rear steel bumper that’s compatible with BSM. I would get raped on shipping/duty fees and conversion rate.

My rear bumper is in rough shape but I’ll be alright for now.

yes, my intention was to state the arb recovery point is the only rated component for pulling duties, but my brevity got the best of me

I did learn the difference between towing and recovery points. Kinda like static vs dynamic straps.

I've pulled 3/4 ton trucks with the stock tow rings in the front twice now. No problems.

FWIW I did quite a few hard pulls on my sport front tow hook. It was done with a kinetic rope.

Conditions were quite rough. Terrible 7 hours of my life:

This is a common question, there are a few threads on here where people swear they have have done insanely hard kinetic recoveries off the factory tow hook. But the thing to keep in mind is if your vehicle has the factory hook it is going to be getting ripped off your vehicle and thrown at the recovery vehicle. It is not a safety issue for the vehicle with the factory hook, just the vehicle that it is being thrown at who is trying to help out!.

I don't recover people needing really hard pulls off factory tie down points. It is not worth it jeopardizing my safety to get them out. They are the stuck ones, with inappropriate equipment, it's their problem.

+1 ... no joke that others suffer from bad equipment and bad recovery procedure:

Curtis makes a front hitch for Toyota Tacomas. Has a 2 inch receiver just like the one I put on the rear of truck Friday.
Looks just like it. Would it be worth the $210.00. Sorry don’t know how to post a link. I could just put hook inside the 2 inch. The receiver is right in the middle. Thinking about it know my little SR Tacoma model has that little plastic skirt on bottom of bumper.
I would have to take that it off or cut a square hole in the skirt to see and use the 2 inch receiver on it. What you guys think of this idea ? Marty

Just post "https:// ...", the forum software knows how to highlight i.

Be sure the recovery hardware you recommend is good ... if you view the link I posted about the Arizona man who died, you will see how easy it is to injure or kill others even with the best of intent.

As @RichochetRabbit says, a simple cut + paste will do it.

I camped next to a Gen 3 Tacoma at Death Valley a few months ago, and the guy was running one of the ARB recovery points in place of the original hook. The guy told me he'd used the original hook a few times and didn't really trust it (although, to be fair, he had no issues when using it). He'd used the ARB a time or two as well, and it did just fine. No surprise there. I'm an ARB fan in general, and man, that's a lotta steel on those things! They look seriously tough.
