2022 Tacoma SR Fog Light Question

I just bought the OEM fog light harness for my Tacoma. Can any tell me if they just plug and play with the fog lights and if they’ll come on when I turn the headlights on?

I bought a fog light kit from Amazon and used the wiring harness that came with it to install DD fog lights. it was pretty easy. I bought a switch from CaliRaised to match the OEM switches.

 

My SR is pre wired so I’m hoping I don’t have to run any cables or install any switches, but thank you for the info.

 

I also got a 2022 SR. How did you knew our SR is pre wired for a fog light kit? I just purchased a fog light kit from Amazon.

 

You will need the switch unless you have a stalk that has fog light controls.

 

Pre-wired still needs a way to control it, either switch or a new stalk.

Hey Roll_Terp this install is for 2nd gen tacos. Not sure I wanna do all that work and it be wrong. There’s got to be an easier way since it’s prewired.

 

It was written for and is for 3rd gen and all of the pictures are third gen. I followed it and added some pictures and tips for the steering wheel off + new stall method.

Pre-wired just means you have wires from the front of the engine bay to the relay box, and from the relay box to your steering column. You still to add the fog lights, the relay and a switch to control it. Switch can be a button or toggle in a blank switch space, or swap your left stalk for one with the fog light switch.

It’s similar to a house that has a room pre-wired for a ceiling fan but only has a light fixture. You’re still going to need to install the ceiling fan on one end and a switch in the wall on the other.

 

It seems like the thread you sent me only had the install instructions for non pre-wired tacomas. I read the whole thread and did not see anything for the stalk change out. I think Nitori had mentioned that a lot his instructions were taken out for some unknown reason.

 

Also noticed that my stalk has a DRL selection on it and I also have a auto high beam button in the panel where you put the fog light switch. Do you think I can use that high beam switch for the fogs instead of changing the stalk?

i would just get the stalk. mine came from a wrecked RAV4, Dont forget the blue relay also.
