    Hi everyone,

New here! I had a 15 wrangler unlimited then sold it for a camper van, and now selling it for a 22 TRD OR in lunar rock, awaiting dealership delivery. Yes I converted from keepers to taco’s.

We are selling our camper van for a Tacoma because after traveling and living in the van for three years, we decided to resettled in Buena Vista, Colorado. If you’re familiar with the area you know there is one highway and many branches of dirt roads that lead up into the mountains. Needless to say we were constantly(3-5x week) taking the van on dirt roads and easy off road trails in the mountains to climb, bike, ski, Fish, and Camp. So enter a Tacoma to be the new adventure mobile.

I want to upgrade the suspension and I have done extensive research in these forms however there are so many opinions so I want people to give me my own set and tell me what you think.

I want to level/lift with a small rake… I like 2 up front and 1 in back. Eventually add a project M topper (400lbs) that won’t be removed, stubby front bumper, maybe wench, and nothing Bigger then 31 tires. Additionally, on any give adventure minus dog and two people… I would guess no more then 250lbs of additional gear.

because I will frequent dirt roads I was thinking 2in - 2.5 fox up front (non-remote resi),1in- 2.0 in back with Remote and CD. Is this adequate? Only changing shocks?

if the consensus is also leafs, then what is recommended? Dakar is obvious but I can only find ones with 2.75 lift+. I’m leaning away from EMU and can’t afford their PB-51. Considering Ironman 4x4 with pro cell although they also only come in 2in all the way around (would be ok). Let me know what you think!

As you already know, with a new "wench", make sure that she's been tested before you engage!

2/1" lift will be level, no rake. Adding 400lbs in the rear will give you the Carolina squat.

265/75/16 tires will get you 31.6" without rubbing. You could go the 33" 255/85/16 without rubbing.

I would do a HD Deaver or HD Icon RXT leaf pack in the rear over the Dakar - been there done that. Ride will be better. Or you could go with a light duty pack from those companies and do Firestone airbags with Daystar cradles for articulation like I did. Airbags give you flexibility in no load to very heavy loads (up to 1,000lbs or so in bed).

I’m not sure where you are reading that the OME Dakar’s lift the truck 2.75”. I have the mediums, 150lb sliders, and my rear is 1.5” higher than stock.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
You may want to look at the Bilstein 6112s & 5160? Or even check out the Ironman stage -2…? …which comes with springs weight that may meet your needs?..
    Aloha
