I literally drove a 2020 TRD Off Road yesterday to see if I wanted one to replace my aging 2009 RWD TRD Off Road that won't cut it here now that I've moved to CO. It was amazing but I wanted a small lift, bronze tires and some other things.

It's like Toyota heard my cries and knew about my Bronco reservation and came out with the trail edition. I'm going to be first in line for this, Army Green please!

Now - what's the best way to help with that dog awful engine trans combo? Pedal Commander? Tune?

The engine/trans issue has always been a tad overblown. Toyota has improved the tune, and it’s mostly a nothing-burger now.

They probably could’ve slept and chilled on their custom built sleeping platform in the back of this thing didn’t only come in a double cab.

    Cool looking truck.

But as someone previously mentioned, it’s probably cheaper to buy an SR5 and mod it, gonna be the same thing.

That's not the impression I came away with from the 2020 I just drove yesterday. My 2009 always had a bit of hesitation but if I accelerated at the right time I could mitigate it. I almost wrecked yesterday trying to merge because the lag was so horrible when I floored it.

Im sorry, did you say you almost wrecked your truck because of the engine/tranny combo?

Technically the dealer's truck but yes - it's a dog and lacking for power. Drove it like I would my 2009 with the 4.0L and went to merge in front of another car in the lane next to me. Floored it and nothing, took about 3 seconds to rev up and downshift and make up its mind to go. Good thing I had plenty of room behind me but there was another car there and they did have to slow down because of me.

That said, I hope a tune will fix it and I'm first in line for the 2022 Trail.

Noticed this too, hopefully us 2021 owners aren't going to have a bunch of trans issues without it. Odd they put it back in so soon. I guess I'll change my fluid more if I end up towing with it.

This is what the trail edition should have been for 2021. Now I’m kinda bummed I didn’t wait. But either way, I can add all of these things to mine if I really want.

No one talking about the addition of the locking rear diff.

That's a bit much but thanks for the advice.

I hoped this place wouldn't be like the Bronco forum where no one is allowed to criticize Ford.

Little salty they're re-releasing army green on another year, breaking off their tradition of 2 year windows.

Now that I know it comes in my preferred color (green) only 1 question remains - will they stick this model with the crappy 5' bed or will they have the option for 6'? If only 5', I might just still get the TRD Off Road and add options.

Looks like the Trail Edition is getting a Pro grille. Does this mean the grille will be more easily available as a part?

Just needs a rear locker....course then it would just be a cosmetically upgraded OR. I think I would rather have a base OR over the trail personally.....and I drive an SR5.
