Maybe but can't beat factory Elocker especially if you don't want to wait to install or mess with potential warranty issues.

    Interesting.

I honestly think that you are exaggerating about the 3 sec delay. I drove quite a few AT 3rd gen tacos and they drove great, even though I’m obviously not a huge fan of autos.

I have 2 buddies as well, 2017 and 2019, they have no complaints regards the drivetrain. The buddy with the 2019 had a 2013 sport and prefers the 2019. The buddy with the 2017 has about 70k miles and absolutely loves it.

    Both stock tunes.

    That is true yes.

On the other hand, if you are building a proper off-roading rig, you can pretty much forget about the warranty.

My ass would have a 60” Tv, bug zapper, water heater with shower, and that would be my back yard .

It's got some nice extras over the sr5, but I'm still content with my 2017 TRDOR 4X4. No need for power seats, the storage cubbies in the bed, or that safety sense bs that doesn't play well with aftermarket lifts.

Absolutely kudos to Toyota for taking the Trail Edition from a head scratching parts bin special to an enthusiasts wet dream Tacoma.

This is the first Tacoma I've seen that I've thought "Man, I could buy this and not do a damn thing to it for a few years." it's that good out of the box. Everything you need, couple of things you'll want, and none of the frivolous BS.

I think the TRD Off Road still has a leg up on it in a lot of areas, though. The tech suite is certainly there for those who want more modern amenities in a new vehicle. I'd be really surprised if it didn't also get the new Goodyear's the Trail and Pro are getting, too. I wonder how the off road ride will be compared to the Trail as well. Lift vs Comfort, etc.

But yeah, Toyota knocked it out of the park with this truck. Don't mind me, though, I'd be tearing those dumb bins out asap. :anonymous:

Cool upgrades, love the wheels, kinda makes me bummed I got a 21 trail but not really. I would still need more lift, still need more offset and that leaves me with a heritage grill so I guess I’m still pretty happy with my 21.

I just put my bins back in today LOL. I actually really like then, was on the fence at first but only take about 10 mins to take in and out and I’m a pack rat who loves to be ready so the extra lockable storage is helpful. The bed doesn’t fit a sheet of plywood without the boxes anyways, jus sayin.

Yeah, I know it. I've hauled sheet goods back there.

I just prefer camping on a platform, and the bins get in the way of that.

Then again the 5ft bed wouldn't fit me, so I'd probably have a rack and tent immediately anyways.

Totally agree about losing the ability to make a sleeping platform.

I think this just re affirms that these trucks need a little more lift from the factory. Especially in the front.

The fact that they are adding lifts to stock configurations makes me more comfortable with lifting my 2020 and not worrying as much about voiding warranty on anything.

I can’t believe Toyota actually put rear locking differential in the SR5…

    A few.
Between the new Trd lift kit and this new Trail Edtion model there is likely to be lifted tacomas all over the place. People who normally wouldnt install an aftermarket lift will be jumping on these to get that look.

Most dealers will look for any excuse to avoid paying for anything they don't have to. Same with corporate. My warranty is up at the end of the year, so I'm not as concerned. I think larger tires (heavier) have the potential to cause more problems (additional wear on drivetrain and power steering) than most suspension lifts themselves. However, several members on here have been just fine with lifts and tires.

If you’re doing 75 with a headwind, will it hold 6th?

I missed the part about adding the rear locker, I’m definitely a lil butt hurt.

he he kinda funny, the SR5 /Trail will battle it out over price and build it yourself just like the off road / pro. I wonder if sport will have a rivalry with limited?

My guess is no. I know of no AT Toyota truck that can handle headwinds and stay in 6th gear at 75MPH. In fact, most Toyota trucks with automatic transmission don’t even have a 6th gear, so it’s usually not worth commenting on.
