I just got a black 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro and am looking to upgrade so it’s a prime overland type vehicle. No heavy off roaring where if need a snorkel etc but want to get bed bars, rook rack, tent etc.

Think I need to start with bed bars that will work with the Toyota tri fold bed cover and want to start correctly. Found Billie Bars so far that look good.

any suggestions on brands, places to buy or order of upgrades much appreciated.

Here you go. This list should get you started. Looks like a prime overland vehicle to me. Let us know when you're done. :anonymous:

Trd exhaust is the most important part in that build.

So it's not the Pennzoil 0w20 full synthetic then? It has to be at least in the top 5 for importance....

I think you're both wrong. It has to be the Garmin Overlander, because it has overlander in the name.

If it was amsoil then yes. Only peasant overlanders use pennzoil.

Following this guide you’ll need a non scooped hood. Luckily for you I have a MBM non scooped hood ready to swap with you! Just need to know where and when you wanna meet :fistbump:

@RCI-Offroad is getting ready to have a group buy on some or all their products. That would be a great place to start, maybe skids and sliders depending what you want. They have a nice looking roof rack too!

OP, you have your model so you can get it right. This is a proper overlanding-type vehicle. have at it! Works great in downtowns! A real head turner.

To the OP: Now that we've all had some Friday fun at your expense, the questions you've posed is extremely general and lacking in enough detail for us to really give you any reasonable suggestions. Since it sounds like you really don't know where to start, I would suggest two things. One is that you drive it for a while without spending any serious money or doing any modifications. These vehicles are pretty capable right from the factory, so if your plan is not to do any "heavy off-roading" (I assume that's what you mean by heavy off roaring. If not then we need to have another discussion), you might not need much if anything in the way of suspension mods, rock sliders, armor, etc. Once you drive it for a while and start going places you want to go, you will start to know what you actually need.

The second suggestion is that you start reading through the Off Roading and Trails sub-forum to get some ideas: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/off-roading-trails.22/. You can see where others go and how they've equipped their trucks. Then consider things like your budget and time out what you want to do. Things can start to add up real quick, so take your time and consider your needs before you open your wallet.

Goddamn-it.... I always seem to forget how vastly superior Amsoil is. At least it was the much coveted 0w20.

Ok so I guess it was a bit vague. Just spent $53k on a new trd pro. This is my 4th tacoma and also had a tundra. My off roading (thanks for the spelling catch - can’t believe I missed that!) is more wooded trails w rocks and some pretty aggressive climbs and downhills (think Vermont ski areas) and then camping. I always kept my trucks stock but always bought the off road models. So with that said I have no real budget but want to just have this thing look factory for the body (no new bumpers or winches) but do want bed bars that will support future growth in getting a tent for it. But I also am thinking of some east light additions etc. so if anyone has advice on Billie bars vs other brands or what sizes (5”, 8” etc) as I want to keep the tri flip bed cover that Toyota put on this thing. Will do some interior upgrades as well but since I’m new to the trd pro model it seems to have a lot and was hoping maybe someone else has upgraded their same model and had suggestions. Thanks everyone.

Way to take the sh*t show in stride. Congrats on the new truck. Enjoying mine thoroughly as well.

RCI has bed mounts which could work with your tonneau cover and allow you to mount one of their bed racks or potentially others for a rooftop tent.
