Because only a small subset really care about a long bed, same as a manual transmission. They have trouble keeping them on the lot as is. So, I would assume it wouldn't cause a buying frenzy with a longer bed

You might be surprised how many OR longbed owners won't consider a Pro because of only having a shortbed available. If Toyota made it available with both beds they could induce more OR customers to step up to the higher trim level.

I'm a little surprised it took Toyota so long to offer the limited w/ a 6' bed. Not that I think those buyers are utilizing it as a truck but more so the "bigger is better" mentality

It took them the entire 2nd generation run to find out buyers also wanted a DCLB OR.

Toyota has said over and over and over that the Pro is their "off road" flagship and a longer wheelbase would compromise the off-road ability. Also, Toyota severely limits TRD Pro production numbers to keep them exclusive. So I think it's safe to say Toyota isn't trying to sell more Pros - which makes me think it's a loss leader. In other words, I suspect Toyota makes less profit on the Pro than the Off Road.

When you consider than an equivalently equipped Off Road is, what? Around $3,000 less than the Pro, but with the Pro you get the more expensive bash plate, suspension, cat-back, wheels, hood etc... I think Toyota would much rather sell Off Roads.

Ford has said time and time again, the Raptor is their loss leader. But it gets people excited, and on the lot, but most buyers walk away with a "lower" version of the truck, that Ford makes a bigger profit on. I'd bet the Pro is the same thing.

and they're right. The shorter the wheelbase the better when offroading especially in a pickup.

Not sure if anyone has said it officially, but given what we know about the higher lift in the 22' Pro, it should be able to run 33 inch tires (285/16s) without any mods, on the same stock wheels!

    Whoopdie Whoop if that's true!

Is that true? Surely not! I know I've seen 2nd gen DCLBs sports. But I cannot recall seeing ORs.

It still doesn't explain them not making an AC version of the Pro which has the same wheelbase only the larger bed.

Damn I dont know how I feel about the color, but I'm digging those UCAs. You think the UCAs would be available to purchase from Toyota?

Probably because most don't want an access cab and most tacomas I see on the road are DC.

The shocks are probably tuned for the DCSB. Toyota builds more DC than AC, no manufacturer can sell as many 2dr trucks as they can 4dr trucks. I'd like to see a 3.5 V6 AC with a rear seat delete and vinyl floor option. Ford Ranger can be configured in a AC, with rear seat delete and vinly floor, and the FX4 pkg wich includes a rear locker. I have never seen one, but it can be ordered. When it would be built is another question.

This is interesting. Does that mean that the TRD Pro 4Runner won't get the lime green? And the Tacoma Pro won't get the yellow? Waiting for colors to drop. They do have the 2022 Tacoma on the website as an upcoming truck. I should look to see if the 4runner is there too.
