Hello all! I'm very happy to report that after having to endure the horrible "Premium JBL" system in my 2022 Tacoma Limited I have finally been able to strip it out and install aftermarket amps, speakers and a 10" subwoofer. I have been back and forth with Crutchfield and PAC and was told that the PAC AmoPro AP4-TY13 aftermarket amplifier interface would allow me to retain the head unit but get rid of the factory amp and subwoofer. Actually the wording was "people have had success with..." . I will say that i was skeptical after that but, I had to do something to improve the sound in my Taco. After 13 hours I now have a 4 channel Sound Ordnance M75-4 amp powering JBL Club speakers in all doors and dash and a 1 channel Sound Ordnance M350-1amp powering a 10" JL Audio sub in a Taco Tunes box. After years of using higher rated amps in my youth I was unsure about the Sound Ordnance but as long as you have a good ground point they are great amps!
So now the issues I did run into. I have the birdseye camera and that controller is located where the sub box mounts. As for now it is just sitting next to the box until I can find a different option. With the Amp pro and the JBL system you do need to keep the factory amp installed. I was able to mount that on the back wall of the cab and it is hidden by my amp board so not a big issue. Running the wires and cables was a nightmare!! So many factory wires in the way!! Running the speaker wires to the front doors through the factory rubber loom alone took almost 2 hours!! The RCA cables all went along passenger side floor board. very tight but did fit. With the stock head unit equalization is limited but the overall sound is sooo much better. Best part is I now have a reasonable volume! I can hear music with all the windows down!

    Pictures to follow.

Still need to put felt along the exposed metal at the top but it is pretty clean if I do say so myself.
