I'll be the opposition and state that I almost always fill-up with the motor running. I like keeping the interior comfortable with the AC running.

Try eating in the restroom. The body likes to seek balance, and may need to make room.

I just also wanted to throw this out there, since the OP likes "'really fill up". When putting the gas cap back on, you only click it once or the check engine light will come on(It actually says it inside the fuel door). I have no doubt you are the type to click it a dozen times to "Really tighten it" (or many so much its stripped and doesn't even click anymore). This will also cause similar problems

Did you know its under this thing called warranty?...You can take it to the dealership and they will diagnose it and fix it for free. Did you explain this to the dealership and what did they say?

Take some time to read your owners manual start to finish....you probably have a lot to learn about a vehicle and driving.

Also when you go to the gas station, read the directions at the pump. It will say to shut off your engine while fueling up.

    Good Luck

Too much to read. Has it been mentioned that fueling a vehicle, while dangerous to begin with, can sometimes make the ECM think there is a evaporative leak.

Also, topping off a tank is Russian Roulette. Eventually it will bite you. When the fuel system is filled completely up the inlet pipe there is little to know room for expansion. The evap canister can only do so much. Top it off and let it sit out on the hot sun for a few hours and you risk raw fuel being forced into the cannister. It will throw a code. Dealers aren't stupid. They can tell the difference between a problem and a stupid mistake. The stupid mistake is not a warranted item.

Stop topping it off. If you are the type that can't stand the final dollar amount to be an odd figure.....well seek some help.

Now that I have probably repeated what has already been said....I will see myself to the door.

Bad habits are highlighted to the 10th degree.

    Lesson for the day/month/year:

#1 - Turn off engine before refueling
#2 - Do not top off after the dispenser clicks off

Topping off is one thing but fueling with the engine on for your own comfort is a top tier “I’m the main character!”, selfish-prick move.
All those warning signs are probably for everyone BUT you...

Also, what cleaning product gets out pool chlorine after sitting on the driver's seat with wet trunks?

You know, if you stop putting gas in it that particular problem will cease.

    You know, the intermittent part.

Sounds like a fireable employee to me if that’s the case. No room for that intentional neglect.
