People complained back then about quality. People complain now about quality. Move forward.

People don’t want to pay and expect quality. Granted some things are made cheaper to lower costs, but some things offset that with better technology while aiming for a better environment. Toyota was created to provide a good gas mileage/reliable vehicle for the poor people. I truly don’t understand people that cry and expect more for less from a Toyota.

At the end of the day, it’s business. If you want more quality, anti-up your money and make it better quality yourself. Not everyone has the same needs as you.

Ot just follow in the footsteps of Delorean and make it all brushed steel. Steel doors, steel dash, steel seats, steel chin....

That actually makes a lot of sense, the interior of the tacoma has changed over 20 years, that's probably all it was.

I bet the Ridgeline drives 10x nicer than a Tacoma. Too bad it looks like a minivan with the back top cut off. I wanted to test one but even my wife straight refused to go! Even she laughs at them. You might as well include the Maverick in this. Cheaper interior but on that finally has the space that all of these mid size trucks should have but don't.

Wow! I wanted & looked at some tacos 20 years ago but couldn't get over how cheap the interior was so bought a Volvo instead. 3rd gen is way better

It drives much better for sure. Funny enough, my wife says that truck is super ugly. Honda did change the nose look last year and it does look a little bit better. The public seem to have responded and they improved their sales by about 30% in 2021.

I have owned all 3 Generations of Tacoma and never really cared what the interiors were made of as long as it was a Toyota that is all I wanted. People should have a better look before buying if they want to be that picky then go to another brand. just saying

I don't understand some people's obsession with interior materials. I drove an Xterra with hard plastic interior for 10 years before I got my Tacoma, and it was great. Hard plastic is durable, cleans easily, and requires zero maintenance. When I ride in vehicles with "fancier" interiors, I don't feel the slightest bit envious.

Had a 2000 tacoma before this 2021, there is no comparison, completely different truck/interior. The plastic is a much different feeling than your padded vinyl dash, keep in mind the safety features galore in the new one exceed anything your gen one offers.

Ridgeline is built different too-unibody verses body over frame, probably does drive better but looks like a crossover truck for someone uncertain of their sexuality. Sucks for those owners when their body rusts out, at least we can replace our frames.

No money, all went to truck...
I'm sure the Ridgeline have a better ride than the tacoma. It's basically a minivan. I sat in one, it's interior is pretty nice but still have the same "plasticy" feel.

If not plastic what would the interior be made of? Vibranium?

Haha, I almost considered it. It starts at 39K, so nope. It's got really really good reviews! more power, better gas mileage. But you're right, I wouldn't know who to identify with if I owned the truck.

It's also funny that all ads for the Ridgeline featured the HPD version which is the most rugged looking one.

Actually felt the same way about my 1993 Toyota Pickup Truck -
Paid $6,500 for it with 6 miles on it.
Put 199,999.99 miles on it and sold it for $1,000.

I'd give $2,000 to have it back because I know for a fact it's still running.

It's a truck for cryin out loud... a damn good one too...
