New for 2020 I think. My 2020 TRD Sport has this and it's awesome to have that feature.

I bet. I have done the Lexus key card mod and it's a pain to have to walk around to the drivers door every time to unlock or lock.

I just need to install the door handle I bought to solve this problem 3 years ago on...

I kind of see this thread as a more friendly owners' zone of Trails. If anyone's seen that new comparison post, people just get so triggered by the trail edition for some reason. Like, people hate it because it's got a more clear style direction that you're paying the factory for as opposed to doing it yourself. Why doesn't the TRD Pro get this level of hate? Probably because it's the most expensive and is super exclusive and rare.

I just don't see why there aren't hordes of people saying the TRD Pro is stupid and a TRD OR with 10k poured into it would destroy it. Yet we get hate from all sides it feels like.

I know a lot of this is just people on the internet saying whatever comes to mind and being mean, but it's just intriguing to me. Those of you who have followed my posts have seen how I have treated this as almost social analysis work, examining why people buy what they buy, what gravitates a buyer to the trail, etc. I guess it's just going to be one of those misunderstood models.

Also, it's easy to make pricing decisions in a vacuum, but the market is trash, you're lucky to find an SR5 for MSRP, much less a Trail, OR, Pro. If you have a cool truck come through your region, and it fits the bill, grab it. Look at all the people arguing over truck specs, and then they're waiting 6 months for theirs. Meanwhile, I'll be driving mine around happily and now I will have reliable transportation.

Reminds me of @kal718 's logic: I was looking at regular SR5s but dealers near me were tacking on ADM of 3500-5000. Found a dealer an hour away who isn't doing that and ended up putting a deposit down. The TE at this dealer will cost less than what the others were charging for the standard SR5.

That somehow makes me feel better and worse at the same time, lol!

Can someone legit link me a good one if you have one where it's like SR owners with 20k of mods trashing every other trim level? Because that's got to be the most toxic variation I can think of, no disrespect to normal SR owners.

3 undeniable truth here man (there are many more):

SR's are the only real 3rd gen Taco. Even better modded because you start with absolutely nothing you don't need.
Michelin makes great tires and if they made a slightly beefy AT, we all would have them.
    Everybody loves first gen Taco's.

Absolutely everything else is a free for all. It's just a furball of hot takes, misinformation and passion lol. And the occasional Meme.

    Hop in.

I hate everything about this build. They massacred it! The Trail Edition loses its value prop quickly as port/dealers bloat it with extras.

SR5 Dynamic Navigation is such a waste of money to me.

ToyoGuard and LED illumination, too. And that's before the dealer may try to throw their own dealer pack on top.

The most egregious is the Tire upgrade. Not only do you not get to pick the upgrade, YOU DON'T GET TO KEEP THE OLD TIRES TO SELL. This is a horrible deal, they make so much money off that. It already comes with A/T's.

Also, it already comes with Tacoma Tailgate inserts from factory I am pretty certain.

That is more than the price of a TRD OR Premium, that's crazy.

All the add-ons that were on the 2 offered to me with toyota trying to hit me with has had me start to consider the tremor. I've liked both trucks. At least with the tremor I can order what I want without paying for this extra garbage.

Thats what I like about ford. You can get a base truck with the FX4 package and call it a day.

LOL that's what I paid for my TRD OR WITH the Toyota platinum for 125k miles and the windshield insurance for 5 years.

Ranger. Ford is doing $1000 off factory orders, ranger is included.

Tempting but for me it’s an archaic truck in all the wrong ways. And I don’t like the styling. But hey it’s a truck and if you can get it sooner for the price you want go for it!

I wouldn't trust anything with a turbo from Ford. If I got one it would be a 5.0 F150

I wouldn't worry about it, every single trim level gets trashed on here so welcome to the club. You are the one paying for it so you get to pick the one that is best for you.

The Canadian trail edition has predator step bars as standard, but the price is only $1000 cad less than a Off road premium. For some reason, this does not look great to me, something awkward.

Canadian pricing seems even more confusing than american. What looks weird, no side steps? I like it, looks taller

Good take. I personally have never understood the point or purpose of fog lights, but I live in a southern state without much fog so that's probably why. Many manufacturers aren't even using fogs anymore because their LED headlights are so good, they can do it all (at least that's what I read).

I plan to take coolers in and out as needed, or just run one, to get more bed space while still having some lockable storage. I always wanted some exterior storage and I am not a tradesman, so I think they'll work well for me.

The way your truck is spec'd was probably much more than my Trail, which is barebones no extras. I like your truck specs, just was out of the budget for me. And this will be my first tacoma, first really nice new car, and I have done the modding thing before. I just want it factory fresh, warrantied, and looking cool day 1 all OEM parts.
