2022 Lunar Rock Tacoma - Trail Edition
    FINALLY :)

Took delivery yesterday. It's been a long wait. Said goodbye to 'Wilfred' and hello to 'Wane'!

    August 16 - Allocation deposit
    November 15 - Allocation confirmed
    December 6 - Build date
December 12 - Build date pushed back
January 6 - Truck was built
February 5 - Truck delivered to dealer
February 7 - Picked up truck

So far, I don't plan on doing too many crazy mods. I like it stock and it's one reason I went with this package. Things I have already purchased and will be installing this week include: Glove box organizer, center console organizer, center console tray, Screen Protech for HU and instrument cluster, and the LEER Roll-It-Up Tonneau cover. Also got a cup holder that fits in the stock size, but has a big enough top for a Nalgene bottle. Front air damn will be coming off and I plan on getting mud flaps, but not sure which ones yet. Any recommendations? Heard the OEM ones aren't very good. Been looking at the RekGen or Husky Liners. Probably going to do a bedmat too, but unsure if I want the OEM and cut it around the bed boxes, or come up with a different solution (or take out the boxes). Cheers to all of you!

Ridiculous Modifications or I've got more money than sense...

Figured I'd add a little color to this thread by adding what I have done thus far to my SR5 Trail edition.

    questions, concerns, comments?

I would try putting a different zip code in as sometimes Toyota's Site can be kinda funky.

I have to scroll over about 4 or 5 packages to get the Trail edition package. It was there just the other day when I was price comparing the OR with Tech vs. the TE anyways.

I totally forgot about that, also had to scroll over to select it as I also compared the prices too.

Great thread and really helpful. For TE owners, what was your process is nailing a price and finally getting your rig? I've emailed around and spoken with a few dealerships about either a 2022 TRD OR or a 2022 TE but it's so dang insufferable from the get-go that I don't even know where to begin. The TE seems like the better bet as it already has the lift and great wheels to boot. I really don't want a project either. 4WD and rear locker seems perfect especially if I can get in at MSRP.

I was waiting for either a trail or TRDOR allocation. I would pick dealers who will sell you any truck at MSRP and nail the deal down in writing beforehand and put a deposit down so that way when an allocation for anything matching your parameters comes through they honor it.

That’s what I did. Sign a price sheet saying what you’re paying and then put a deposit down or get on the list and then wait. If it’s already on the lot it may be too late. I was able to have leverage and argue off about 1400 in dealer add ons because they had no truck to sell me. If it was already there, they have the leverage and probably wouldn’t have sold it to me.

Thanks for that. I just called two dealers today in SoCal. A 7K markup for a TE. Another dealership has the exact TRDOR I'd love to own...9K markup over the phone. She didn't even chuckle when she said it haha :-/

California has sounded like a whole other planet for car buying. I’d troll the 22 buyers thread for advice and camaraderie lots of good people on there with good ideas.

A lot of the trucks already on lots or coming in I would’ve loved but they were asking crazy adjustments. One told me they could get me the truck quickly (they couldn’t, no one can) and was being pompous about it even though they had a 2k adjustment.

Best idea I’ve heard in situations like that is call out of state and make the deal over the phone. Be prepared to road trip it back. There’s an inventory spreadsheet where you can narrow it down and start calling dealers.

Or like I said hopefully find a dealer who will do MSRP or honor that on a truck that isn’t even allocated yet. Best of luck to you!

I like the idea of just road-tripping' it back. Also, killer rig you got there. Love those wheels on the army green...

Thank you, I’m loving it, if you find one you won’t be disappointed!

LEDs were the one thing I was really wanting to have the option for, but honestly these halogen projectors aren’t that bad and that’s before even using a higher output halogen from one of the threads here. So I’m thankfully not too disappointed on that front.

That being said, can’t wait to see someone make that switch.
