Put a diamondback SE on after I picked mine up last week! Took it out for a rip on some local trails.

My first vehicle was a beat up hand me down ‘87 Toyota Pickup 4WD. I always had dreams of doing a full restomod to it, trying to make it look like Marty McFly’s. Lil bro wrecked it and I dreamt one day I’d be back in a Toyota truck. Last year I planned to get an SR5 and do some work to it. Then, Toyota announced the Trail Edition for ‘22, an SR5 with a lift and rear locker. It’s like they read my mind and made my dreams come true. I have all the streaming channels, but I’d rather set up a chair in front of the Taco with a beer in hand and let my mind wander, thinking about what I should do to it next. Watching my Tacoma is way better than Netflix.

in my comparison of trucks out there the tacoma wins for pricing for what is included. i called dealer in January and they said they had 2 coming in but they were sold. a black and an army green. i ended up putting a down payment on an off road but as soon as i got home i got a call that someone had dropped out and i could get the army green if i wanted it. at the time i was preferential to the black but gave the go ahead on the green as i figured i wanted a different color than the standard colors that were out there . i was thinking i wouldn't like it but when it arrived and i saw it it looked awesome. the green blended perfect with the bronze wheels and loved the little bit of lift it had. i am getting so many good comments on it because of the color. scheduled next month for oil undercoating then i will absolutely love it. drives really great too!!! The only thing i don't like is the tonneau cover leaks into the storage bins. yes there is a seal on the storage bins but doesn't seem to help. i checked for full contact of the seals and they are contacting. recommend pulling the drain plugs from the aft bottom of the bins as soon as you get it and if storing anything be sure to put items in plastic bags.
hope you will love it too!!!

Surprised your cover is leaking and then leaking into the storage bins . My oem cover leaked a little at the tailgate when I washed it. I added a small seal, made some adjustments to the brackets by removing a shim. Its pretty much water tight, there is a thread about the cover leaking on some vehicles.

Finished installing my Anytime front camera today and it took forever in the hot sun. I had planned to take it on its maiden trail run today right after the camera install and it took me much longer than I expected, partly because I didn’t want to mess up but mostly because I wanted to clean up the wiring and I think I did a great job of that. I finished the install late and light was fading so the trail run got abbreviated today.

Laying out masking tape as close to center as possible. I’m off by 2 mm, by necessity because of the needed course for the nut that secures the camera.

Making sure of placement before drilling:

All done! Looks perfectly centered unless you’re using a tape measure by the smallest of increments.

The camera was extremely helpful on the trail just with confidence in knowing what’s in front of you on those tight turns by the cliff side. I’m so happy I waited to hit the trail until after the camera was installed.

    Maiden Trail Run

Fellow 22' Trail Edition owner checking in here.

I got my truck roughly a month ago and I've been enjoying it. I put on about 2,000 miles so far and it's been a thrill. I previously owned a 17' Toyota 86 and it's quite the jump from a 2 door coupe to a 4 door mid sized truck. It took me a while to adjust to the height and width of the truck, but the truck rides so much better than my 86.

I don't regret getting this truck as it fits everything I need in my current lifestyle. The cooler and the storage bin are really "cool," (no pun intended) to use because it keeps my drinks cold throughout the day and I can store some extra shoes in the storage bin. This truck is so versatile it feels like a blessing to own one of this truck.

I got the truck at MSRP (~39,000 US Dollars) with a few extra accessories (predator steps, TRD catback, bed lighting, and blind spot monitoring). Being in Hawaii, I was told I was getting a very exclusive truck as the dealership told me I'm receiving 3 out of the 4 trail editions that Hawaii is getting for the current model year. They were very straight forward and honest about no markups and kept reassuring me throughout the whole process. I signed the paperwork and was out of the dealership within the hour with my new truck.

As far as mods for my truck, I've only installed the raptor lights (I see a lot of people have mixed feelings about them) and some magnetic US flag decals on my doors. I am thinking about getting a roof rack/bed rack and installing some aftermarket headlights. I'm still debating if I really need fog lights on my truck but really I'm just enjoying owning a truck for the first time. Some tires would be nice as well, I'm thinking about the BFG KO2's that my Toyota dealership offers at the dealership.

We'll see how my mind thinks down the road...

Im in the same boat, got the same first truck and I do want to add fog lights as the plastic just feels weird to me. Its just so expensive and hard to prioritize mods but eventually itll get done.

Installed CBI slider this week. I love them.

I’m hoping in the next few weeks I will be able to get an ARB Base Rack for the roof.
