Not at all, they are tucked about even with the rocker panels, and there is very little gap between veritcally. My 4'11" wife wishes they were useable as steps.

looks like wider track width is due to different offset.

I saw a nice Trail Edition yesterday as I was leaving the auto parts store. It was all stock and I commented on it. It had 400 miles on it and we had some small talk. I was in my old 99 4runner and then I was offered a ride then followed up with him letting me drive it. It was nice, rode great, but man he needs a KDMAX Pro XT tune bad! Maybe I'm spoiled with my tune, anyhow the TE is a sweet ride! Hell the guy even took out the cooler and storage bins and said he was going to throw them away, useless he said.

Agree. Ride is smooth and awesome, but after owning mine for a couple weeks I can finally speak to the 3rd gen auto trans woes I’ve seen a million comments about here. The stock tune actually suits my pedal style really well (I drive like a fossil). The shifting is smooth enough and the cabin so quiet I can barely even tell without looking at the tach if it’s gear hunting or shifting annoyingly. Either way it wouldn’t bother me and I am not drawing conclusions yet since I’m also purposefully driving erratically for engine break in. My main gripe is off the line the throttle feels gutless - to the point of being a liability if pulling out into fast traffic… When I jump back in my 2004 taco it feels like I am in a drag car haha. Haven’t even crossed 200 miles yet so going to give plenty of time before judgment, but I suspected before purchase and still do now that a kdmax tune will be mandatory for this truck.
Otherwise absolutely loving it, as do the wife and dog!

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello, currently waiting on delivery of my Trail, I was originally torn between a Trail or OR (mainly for the LED option, heated seats and a Moonroof) and wanted Lunar Rock, after a headache calling around almost 15 dealerships in my area that were showing stock online I realized I was going to be waiting months for one!! I then stumbled across a Trail showing in stock at my closest dealer, I immediately called to confirm and was told by the internet sales rep it was on the lot.

Leaving work early I headed down there to have a look and put a deposit down but was told by the sales manager they didn't have that in stock and she had made a mistake! We then chatted about what I wanted and he mentioned he had an Army Green Trail that had left the factory that morning (Aug 10th) that wasn't reserved, which seemed to come as a shock to him! Releasing this might be my only option to get one sooner I said I'd place a deposit...turns out the dealership sells at MSRP and will remove any add ons for me, the resistall protection and nitrogen and the only port installed option it had was the quick charge cable. I'm also trading in a 2020 WRX STi that they are offering over KBB for! It seems like everything was meant to be!

So here I am 2 weeks later just waiting for the phone to ring to say it's arrived! They did give me a date of 9/25 but he said he was being conservative with that.

I came across this site in my search for heated seat and LED headlight installs, I also plan to install some Diode Dynamic foglights hopefully using all the stock wiring and relay if they're present (thanks to the guide I found on here!) Seems like a really good site and it's been a lot of years since i've used a forum so nice to be on one again!

Can't wait to post some pics of mine when it arrives!

    Cheers
    Ash

P.S. No offence to the Lunar Rock owners (it's still a beautiful colour!) but having now seen them both in the flesh I actually prefer the Army Green!

Nice, Army Green is sweet! I too wanted Lunar Rock but honestly I am now happy I did not go for it in the end, and same as you I would have had to wait a very long time to get one.

There are some good write ups here about heated seats. I just installed clazzio seat covers and highly recommend. I will probably add the heated seat unit they offer on both front seats further down the line.

Thanks! I'd looked at the Clazzio covers but need to see the stock seats in person, I like the look of them in pictures!

Stock seats are honestly great, especially if you prefer fabric over leather feel. The trail edition specifically has better looking seats (all black with light tan stitching) than the Off-road in my opinion.

Thanks for the kind comments. The tires are BFG 265/75R16 KO2s rated E. Besides the sex appeal that the truck gets from the tires, it feels and rides very well. I absolutely love these tires.

Did you go through with this? I'm about to start, since these fogs are on sale for Labor Day.

Is that on stock suspension? Any rub? I can’t wait until these Goodyears go bald.

I’ve had BFG KO’s on my two previous rigs and will put them on my Tacoma when these Goodyear’s wear out but I’ve driven some pretty decent trails on them and really don’t have any complaints with the stock tires. Maybe one size up woulda been nice but I get it that they want the gas mileage numbers.

My only wish for the Tacoma trail edition would of been having an ALL black interior the seats, doors and dash are nice but why not the A & B pillars and headliner in black rather than light grey.

it’s all black in the TRD Offroad and Pro why not the Trail?

I didn't think I'd like the gray and black, but it brightens up the cab a bit.
