Went on our first camping trip of the year this weekend and first one with the Tacoma also first time using the tent too and first time camping in Vermont for me so a lot of firsts!

Loved it, truck did everything I wanted it too and everything I bought it for, plenty of space and no issues getting into the camp ground (I came from a lowered WRX STi so ground clearance is massive haha)

Has anyone tried to paint/plastidip the TACOMA letters on the from grille. Not a fan of the bronze. It looks the letters might be able to be pushed out from the back but don't want to break anything. I see you can buy overlays online but it makes the letters much bigger.

Truck looks great! TE ftw! Did you do the fog light install yourself?

Yeah, I swapped mine out. I noticed a difference and was pretty pleased with just new tweeks. Then a Pink Floyd song came on and I just about s**t myself at the quality of the sound. For about 70 bucks, that moment was worth it!

Yeah I ended up doing the tweets and front doors, instantly noticed the difference and once they settled in I couldn’t be happier! Think I’m happy leaving them how they are now no need for a amplifier it’s more than enough speaker for me!

Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my black 2023 TE. I plan to upgrade the headlights and speakers and add running boards and rigid fog lights to start.

how does everyone like the stock suspension/shocks? I’m not an off roader by any means but I’ve driven the OR and felt the bilsteins, is the stock suspension on the TE comparable ?

It rides great man, maybe a tad softer than an OR but doesn't roll too much, not too soft. I'll probably upgrade the Hitachis at some point but I think its great for now. Both on road and off. Congrats on your new truck!

I test drove both and feel the TE has a softer ride than the off road which i really like.

Thanks, it was a tough decision to go with the TE over the OR. The price difference was only about $2000 between both models (a premium OR) factoring in dealer pricing etc. I’d likely mod both trucks anyway, I just think I’d end up doing more mods with the OR strictly for appearance to make it look more like how the TE looks. I also value the lift over the crawl control IMO. The one thing I’m easily going to part with to free up funds for mods is the bed storage. I’ll be selling that ASAP if anyone wants. I have no use for that feature. I’d have to add steps first followed by fogs (I like the Rigid Pro).

I know this has been asked before, but just curious if anyone has since successfully fit 285s on the trail edition? Tempted to try it as many trd pro owners with the 1inch lift and stock pro wheels have been able to make it work with only minor trimming. I would do 255s, but I live in a very snowy area and none of those are severe snow certified and I don't really want to buy an additional set of snow tires. Especially given that the 255s are already quite expensive.

I am so happy to finally have fog lights installed with all factory parts. Went with the Diode Dynamics SS3 pros.

Did you do the steering wheel off method? Any trouble or concerns? I originally bought a switch but I think it’s more trouble than the steering wheel method. Do you need an impact wrench to get the wheel off?

I wasn't bad at all. I was a little intimidated with all the post about the clock spring. I didn't need an impact just a 19mm t25 or t30 a flat head screw driver and just remember to disconnect the battery. Keep the steering wheel straight and mark it so it all goes back the same way. The hardest part was finding the clips to remove the stalks. I ended up taking them off together and then separating them. It does get a lot more expensive making it all factory though.

As @GreenTacoTrail says don’t be intimidated, it’s super easy, just make sure you get the steering wheel back on straight, mines off a spline or 2 and it’s proper annoying! Should really fix that this weekend!

I also took both stalks off together to separate them, just refer to the new one as you do it so you can see where the clips are

Not sure what every one is saying about the clock spring too I just popped the wheel off popped it back on and called it a day…

Edit: Just been out to straighten the steering wheel, took me 12minutes total, should give you an idea of the ease of removing the wheel
