Waiting on delivery on my new Taco! Downsizing from a 2006 Tundra 4x4 DC, but ready for smaller footprint. Got the manual to keep it fun. Looking for honest recommendations on hard folding tonneau, deflectors, mud flaps and any other “must-haves”. Not too much off-road expected, mostly mixed city and highway.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to TW

I recommend just popping around in build threads here to see what you like! Tons of options out there!

So I've had 2 third gens, a 2016 6mt sport and a new (purchased last fall) 2021 6mt off road, both DCSB.

The bed mat is absolutely clutch. The bed is super slick and stuff will crash around incessantly unless you tie it down without it.

I love the factory tonneau. Most bed racks play nice with it (I have the KB Voodoo).

The 2021 has bed lights, and they definitely seem worth it if you haul stuff under the tonneau regularly (which I do).

I bought weathertech mats. The factory rubber mats weren't great and didn't seem to protect that well. I bought them for the 2016, so they may have improved by the 2021, but I didn't use them.

Mud guards - I would NOT recommend these, and would go get some mudflaps, if you run them. The factory mudguards will not happily clear upsized tires. I have some rubbing on 265/75/16s now.

What is the “Backup light in reverse delete”? People don’t like being able to see when driving backwards?
